Re: Old Carl Goldberg 1/2A Handle Rebuild
Well, since we are comparing handles...my "I don't dare lose this one" bright orange RSM/Renger handle:
I'm quite fond of the changeable inserts and can feel the neutral position quite easilly due to the perceptible, but mild, exponential feedback (I prefer to say "multiplication," the change isn't exponential like working heavy math).
Orange so I see it easier when scanning after a flight session. I lost the first one the first time it was used, and left behind.

Re: Old Carl Goldberg 1/2A Handle Rebuild
Hi Chancey! Nice work on the handles! What type of wood did you use.. and what was the thickness? I had thought about trying some aircraft plywood.. by laminating a few sheets together.. depending on the individual sheet-thickness. A total thickness of 3/8" (10-11mm) would probably be adequate for 1/2A size models. A thin-metal insert-strip with a choice of line-spacing would be a nice option.
I particularly like your non-bias/two finger-hole version.. and really want to try making one. I think there's room for a wider line-spacing or even two. That single 1-5/8" spacing is somewhat limited. If the handle turns-out to be real comfortable.. or one of your favorites; then why be limited to that one spacing?
An approximate 1:1 ratio can be obtained using this handle's OEM line-spacing with a Perfect-brand #233 (1/2A size) bellcrank in the model. (see the photo below)
That bellcrank is installed in one of my early designs.
I flew it with a much wider line-spacing at the handle (before knowing better). My first experience flying inverted was with this model.

Re: Old Carl Goldberg 1/2A Handle Rebuild
Thanks roddie. They are both made from one layer of 1/8" Baltic Birch Plywood. I have made a couple others using the same wood and worked out fine. I honestly never thought of laminating a couple sheets together. But I just may try it if I have some free time. The other one I did like this, I used the same 1 layer of plywood then glued on a piece of 1/4" balsa on opposite sides then sanded to contour.

To me, it looks like a modified kite handle. Is there any markings or names on it?
