Re: Another guess how many Cox engines contest......
Sorta like this:
I tried them in variations, but thought it best for C/L to mount them towards the outside of the circle. Jim mounted his the same way.
Brad is getting a couple of untried engines. I keep a log of most of my engines and it shows that I never cleaned or ran either. I just picked them out of the display case at random ensured they had compression and photographed them.
I mailed them this afternoon and wish him good luck. I have 51 more Enya .09's so they shouldn't be missed.

Bob, I was pretty close, I was seriously going to suggest 57. I figured, naahh, it has to be something odd ball. The mirror images I saw from the shelf was tough to even get a count. That was pretty neat.

Yes, Yours was the first bid and I thought -how did he come so close. I didn't think it would last as long as it did. As I recall, Jacobs lasted for a few days.

The nice thing about that pair is the IV is basically the III in right exhaust. Install an RC carb on the III or CL venturi & NVA on the IV, you have a nice pair of engines to mount pancake on a twin engine model. Both engines would be on the inside of the engine nacelle or boom for clean looks from the outside.
Those engines are strong runners when propped right.
Then, if you wanted, you could turn one front housing 90 degrees and have them counter-rotating. Not sure that the timing works out spot-on, so may be a little inbalanced in a twin application.

Re: Another guess how many Cox engines contest......
I'm glad that you finally got them Brad, and your welcome.
I had all kinds of thoughts on how to build a pusher plane for that engine but I probably wouldn't have done it justice. One candidate was the Dornier DO 335 Arrow. Front engine no problem, mid engine big problem. Fuel tank position/cooling/balance big problem. Gave up on the idea.
Fastest piston engine fighter of WW2. Interesting reading on Wikipedia.
