About 30,000 of these engines, which were also available as a general "utility" engine, were manufactured. While this is a relatively small number, compared to Cox model engines, the engine family was a commercial success. A variant of this engine was also used in a bicycle power unit, called "Bronco".

I remember as a kid those old things they had in France with I think 23cc motors which didn't provide sparkling
performance. I did kinda wonder r about what it would 'go' like with .8cc?

Here's the chain saw version.
Back in the early eighties at the start of 1/4 scale craze, there were a couple 'cottage' companies selling these engines converted for R/C, performance was good but not great.

According to Martin at the Cox Virtual Museum they were definately made entirely by Cox, however...........

(And I quote from Martin) "Cox sold the manufacturing rights to the Roper company so that these engines exist with "Cox" as well as "Roper" name plates."

I noticed the pistol handle.
