Cox Engine of The Month
Bing, Birds, and Kari

Re: Bing, Birds, and Kari
Yes Bob, I've seen them sometimes feasting on the probably fermented berries on the rowan (or mountain ash) and hawthorns on my yard. They come in a flock of hundred or so birds and in less than an hour the tree is empty. I like them, they look different compared to other birds. And I wonder where they hide the remaining 364 days of the year
This year the fieldfares (not my favourites) got there first, so no waxwing sighting this year for me. Thanks for the pictures!

Re: Bing, Birds, and Kari
Those birds are more civilized drinkers than an average Finn They do get a bit loud though
Actually I have heard that their bird-brain is quite resistant to alcohol, so they stay "operational" and probably won't get a hangover either. But alcohol keeps the berries soft, and contains a lot of calories that the little ones need to keep warm in the cold.
Fascinating creatures
