Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
I've been wanting to know too.. and was waiting for someone to ask the question. It was over a week ago that I first noticed the "deactivation" notice.. and I must say it concerned me. I think his last post may have been Aug 31st.

This is not the first time. "dinsdale" said goodbye more than a year ago.

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
Why anyone makes decisions is hard to answer without being presumptuous. But generally speaking, in forum communities, as in real life, a participant may feel that the fervor with which others are loyal to their personal opinions becomes frustrating to a point that it offends their sensibilities... resulting in the need to distance oneself from the fray. Sometimes it's best for your well being to tip your hat, or burn bridges if that's your way, and hit the trail.
It's always disappointing when it happens with a respected member of any community, especially when it's a surprise. But in some cases, not all, it is an opportunity for reflection... on both sides of the equation.
That's the least presumptuous non-answer I can add.
Take care, George, and thanks for all you added to our forum over the years.

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
I was just browsing his latest messages trying to see if there were any such exchances that might have caused him to leave Could not find anything out of the ordinary, not sure if people had responded to them or not.
In any case, deactivating one's profile is a bit extreme, and it could be interpreted as a sign of disapproval of what is generally going on. I think we all take breaks sometimes, visit infrequently and don't post anything for a while every now and then.
I hope George is all right. I am sure he knows we will warmly welcome him back should he choose to join us again.
BTW when I was browsing through the member list, I noticed that there are several (dozens of) profiles that have posted no messages, or maybe one or two, and then haven't visited in a couple of years. Is there any way to clean up the register?

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
I echo the above... I could not find any evidence of a feud
Not sure why George pulled up stakes...I will miss his musings and advice
I also hope he comes back
Only once did I quit a forum in anger... story not worth the time to type
There are quite a few forums I am member of and just never returned...no drama ....just lost interest ----or the members were all a-- holes IMO

The last posting was over the tank issue in regards to venting. That sent him over the edge apparently. His vent must've been capped too tight.

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
Well it must have be done dilibertly, as I can't find the tab, Button or thread where I could delete my account! Must be in here somewhere! .....but I did get nosey and checked his profile over on two other web sites. George is still alive and active on those sites. Maybe he just likes Enya's now more than Cox. Or has a plugged vent.

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
I'm just glad to hear that George has been recently active elsewhere.. and that he's ok..
Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
Yeah, I think everyone knows all there is to know now, so I'll go ahead and close the discussion.

Re: "Account Deactivated by Owner"
A little over a week ago George sent me a PM requesting that his account be deleted (which I don't do as it will delete posts and ruin the integrity of whatever threads he posted in). I sent him an email looking for a reason for his departure as usually, when a longtime member up and leaves, it is due to something that someone said or did on the forum; rudeness, scamming, spamming...which I do not tolerate. He replied explaining that it was due to a continued disagreement on a particular topic and that he felt that it would be best if he not be part of the discussions here any longer. As he initially requested, I set his account to deactivated...
