KentucKy Fried John

KentucKy Fried John
After recently flying a club mates Ludicrously over powered (DLE20) Wot4 which for those the other side is a next step up
from a trainer designed for 40/53 glow, that had a full throttle jam open couple a minutes....
I'm more convinced than ever that I don't really want to launch sommat without a throttle just yet,
my laundry bills are high enough thank you.
I'm AM going to start building my rainbow this Evening and was thinking Throttled Pee Wee instead of the
010.
Now, once I get used to it can I stick the throttle ring on a Tee Dee 020?
Terrifiedly Yours

John,
The throttle ring itself may not swap over due to cylinder thickness. You could swap the cylinder piston assy over to the TD and it will work fine.

How much do they charge for that? Does not say in the price list page.
Re: KentucKy Fried John
I've just re read my post and realise I should have asked
are Pee Wee top ends interchangable with Tee dee Bottom ends?
Do Tee Dee 020's have SPI or whatever it's called?

yes they are 100% interchangeable.
But tee dees did have a higher compression head.

Aaaaaaah.
In which case my daft idea of getting an 049 td carb from Bernie
and 'shrinking' it, although costly may not be quite so daft.

With a tee dee carb needling would be hard.
You are better off talking to Andy W about designs or putting a G mark carb on there.
Re: KentucKy Fried John
I'd like one for an 049 anyway, but thought I'd have it copied half scale just to see
how/if it went.

Re: KentucKy Fried John
That idles really nicely Nitroairplane. Will it maintain the low idle for an extended period or does it load up and quit after a few seconds?

Yeah man.
The tee dee .020 is technically the best engine cox made.
From my ones made about as much power as a surestart.
Re: KentucKy Fried John
I have a choice of throttle to use too. I've got some RC Pee Wees i can rob the piston/ cylinder/ throttle sleeve from, and I also have some aftermarket exhaust throttles for the Tee Dee .020. Can't remember what they're called right now, rather complicated things made of aluminum. When it gets warmer outside I'll try both out and see what works better.

Re: KentucKy Fried John
Actually I found a plan online that is a closer "scale model" of the original Phil Kraft Ugly Stik. It has a symmetrical wing which is important for those high-speed inverted passes! It's called the Match Stick.
