I am BACK!
Back in action, that is. We went out to the Congaree field today and I took the Tutor. Expecting to fly the 45 deg. maneuvers and omitting the overheads as I've been doing ever since 11:30 AM November 17th, 2016, I rigged her up and took to the air. I skipped the wingover and went into the loops and felt no tingling. Squares, triangles, all free of any sign of pinching nerves. So what the heck, Pulled into a wingover and flew the whole reverse maneuver. Again and again. Not a twinge. Took a vertical 8 all the waaaayy back behind my head... not a hint of a tingle. I was stumbling around pretty bad, but managed not to fall down, ran it out of gas and landed.
Filled her up again, took an hour break and flew a pattern. So, with a couple of weeks to get over the stumbles, I might just be competing after all.

Re: I am BACK!
Thanks, Guys, I'm pretty happy and got a little more pep in my step. Even if I'm too limited compete much in contests, at least I can compete with myself, which I really enjoy just about as much, maybe even more. Holley was excited for me too when I got home and gave her my flight report. I also look forward to resuming my regular flying stories, which have been seriously on the wane lately. I will be careful and not over-do it. I called it a day after only two flights, just to be on the safe side. Maybe the warm weather is helping loosen things up.

Re: I am BACK!
I've heard that a cold beer after flying helps prevent recurring injuries. It might be worth a try, or two.

I'm really happy for you man! You were one of my first contacts when I joined here almost four years ago. Holley knows your passion.. and it's really good that she supports you Rusty.

Lol, I remember your first post, running a Black Widow, maybe screwed to a fence post or something. Wife in the background asking why you were making all that noise... Edit: Hmmm, I just looked back, I must've imagined that.

Re: I am BACK!
Man, I can feel it in the muscles today. All that walking, squatting, kneeling, standing, and jaw-jacking that a flying expedition involves was a good workout. Gotta get back in shape. Dribbled fuel all over my pants, a band-aid or two, greasy glasses, hat-hair; sure was good to come home filthy at the end of the day again.

You didn't imagine it Rusty.. It was an early post with a vid of me running a Babe Bee; equipped with the Ace/Cooney venturi-throttle and one of my homemade mufflers. It gets pretty comical.. which is probably why you remember it.

Here's that thread. I had joined the forum about a month before posting it. Hard to believe it was almost 4 years ago.

When are you going to give that muffler-kit a try? You know.. the one I sent you in the Altoid tin...

Re: I am BACK!
Thanks, buddy. I haven't been out to try again since then, but hope to go this Sunday if the rain stays away.
I'll take my Tutor to Huntersville. I sure as heck ain't going to fly my Twister over the pavement. I won't have had any real practice since the October contest. One outing in October, I crashed the Twister(flying well and lost the handle), and the next outing in November, I had the electric neck pinch. Then in January I tried to fly and destroyed the Cardinal.
But last week I improved drastically between the first and second flight. I was stumbling all over the place on the first flight, and almost fell down during the landing glide. I hope I can gain some confidence before contest time, because I have very little right now.

Hope that you can continue with the good stuff...it's GOT to be frustrating, but glad you're swinging at getting back into the patterns.

Re: I am BACK!
Don't worry Rusty, I have flown exactly once this year. I suck pretty bad right now. Might fly tomorrow if the weather cooperates. It won't matter for Combat but the lack of flying will certainly hurt me in Stunt.
