As the probably most Eastern member I have the pleasure to wish Y'all Happy New Year!
It's been 2017 for 13 minutes now here in Finland
Thank You for the past years, let's make this one even better
Edit: Correction, our Aussie and Kiwi friends are way ahead, probably already

Correct Kari. Your post was made at 9.14am in my time zone so we are a good 9 hours one minute ahead (minus one hour for daylight savings). About to hit the hay at the end of Jan. 1st for me. I think the Kiwis are the only ones to beat me.

Re: Happy New Year 2017
uuuurghh...missed the whole thing, but for a vague dream/memory of distant gunfire out west... Luckily, the world is coming into focus toward the end of my second cup of Folgers.
A bunch of my buds are having a New Year's Day Fun-Fly over at the little airport in Cairo, Illinois, and if my current consciousness curve holds true, I'll be back here with some fun photos tonight.
Anyway, Happy New Year to all my similarly afflicted friends, and here's wishing all another great lap around the sun!

Kim, as I sit here enjoying this marvelous cap of java, I'm awaiting this afternoon. The Philly crowd is hosting our yearly Frosty Balls Fly In. Today though the weather is a bit timid in the high 40's. Typically it's quite colder than this and usually a 1" or 2 of snow. I haven't been out in a while, a lot of engines to run, new stuff that hasn't been flown and hot chocolate to drink. Enjoy and happy new year!!!!!!!

Well cool...literally! If possible, get some photos and we'll have this thread all dressed up by this evening.
My Breezy Hill buds are having their 'Frozen Finger Fun-Fly/Benefit' next weekend, with admission being canned goods, so I'll be trying that one too.

Happy New Year everyone.
I was in Yorkshire to see in the New Year and watched the fireworks display in London on TV. This annual event started in 2000 as a Millennial display and has continued ever since.
76 years ago - London was like this every night!
I can think of better ways of spending £1.8 million!
After this, I waited for the revellers to disperse and drove the 200 miles back to London at 3 am. Very little traffic!

Re: Happy New Year 2017
Janet & I decided to travel to a local beachside town for the celebrations. For some reason the place was absolutely packed with police, mounted branch, "public nuisance response team", even a prison van. Decided it wasn't worth hanging around so we made a dash along the coast to another town we knew was having a "family friendly" celebration at 9.30. Got there just in time to see the impressive fireworks. We took my van with sleeping gear so decided to find a quiet spot & stay the night. Headed along the coast and pulled unto the scrub to set up camp, only to be awoken at midnight by another fireworks display. Didn't even take a peek outside but could see the whole countryside light up for about 5 minutes. Makes you start thinking about all those weird horror films with people being attacked out in the middle of no-where.
Anyway, we survived and went on to spend new year's day picnicking and browsing through antique & junk shops and a couple of Sunday markets. What my wife didn't know was I was only looking out for old model plane stuff. You never know where that illusive PT-19 will show up.
All the best for 2017.
(Is it really 2017?? )

Philly Fliers Frosty Balls Fly In. A great day to be had in Philly. I wish I had video as I witnessed some very rare and cool stuff flying today. I really have to step up and get some video equipment.
Scratch built Flite Streak for PAW diesel .19 TBR.
Close up of the PAW which is proving itself very worthy as a stunt diesel. It flies this faux Flite Streak with authority.
This was the highlight of the day. If I ever had to eat my hat, this was one of those times. Mccoy .098 on a Joy Products Stunt Runt. My buddy Dan built this in 1981 and this thing flew the wings off of it today. Amazing performance that I could've never imagined. Clover leafs, outsides, insides, amazing stuff on 35' lines. Dan was inspired when I pulled my .098 out a few weeks back and ran it on the stand, I just like to wake the ole gal up now and then. Dan says to me that he had a plane with the engine on it. Not much of a pre-check, just fueled and flew. It was jaw dropping to see how fast and how maneuverable this plane was.
Shawn fueling up the Drone .29 for it's first flight in what I would say about 50 + years. Not as stellar performance as Dan's flight, but it was a smooth flight. We flew the Drone .29 6 times trying to get it to the maneuvering stage. The last flight we almost had loops. The needle valve was backing out and while I could fix it, my hands were getting a bit cold.
Another flight of the Stunt Runt were Dan was stealing the spotlight. Here's Dan inverted. It was a great day here and lots of engines were running on test stands. Our club CD Larry Wilks was keeping all of us filled to the brim with hot chocolate and hot dogs. I couldn't of asked for a better way to ring in the new year, friends, fun and food.

Re: Happy New Year 2017
Way to bring in the New Year Rod! And yes, as hard as it is to believe...this IS 2017!!!!
I headed over to the airport at Cairo to put in a bit of flying on a rather raw day. Temps in the 40's but seemed lower, with about a 10 mph wind from the north. Breezy Hill was well represented...actually the main body of flyers there.
A great dinner in the planning room had us getting awfully comfortable, but thanks to a couple of kids haranguing us for our old guy laziness, we confronted the gray day outside.
Guess it's a sign of the times that, other than an O.S.-powered Super Kaos, my Ringmaster was the only balsa plane to take to the air.
