Re: Happy New Year!!!!
My New Year's Day is nearly over. Last night I had one son away at a party on a friend's farm, the younger one was determined to stay up 'til midnight to watch the fireworks on TV, and my wife went to bed around 10pm. Thought I'd better sit up & keep my son company, but as soon as it turned 12 he was off to bed like a shot.. Every year I feel more and more like it's a big waste of time. I'm no party man & it's just another day, but it does give me a day off work.
I'd hoped to do some testing today on my Tach Race engine but got some things done around the house instead. I little plumbing, a little painting and cleaned out the gutters. The latter nearly killed me when the ladder slipped. The only thing that stopped me from hitting the ground was that my arm got caught through a rung of the ladder and wedged against the roof, with the full weight of me and the ladder hanging on the rung across the back of my forearm. Won't feel much like flicking a prop for a couple of days, but it could have been worse.
There's lots of scary things going on in the world these days, but from here Down Under I want to wish everyone a safe & rewarding 2015.
Cheers.
Rod.

Re: Happy New Year!!!!
The need for an electric blanket would be nice.
Forecast for tomorrow is extreme fire danger and 41°C (105.8°F).
And I have to fix hot cars all day
Overnight is expected to not drop below 27°C (80.6°F)
Welcome to the Aussie summer. I think all my model fuel will go in the fridge just to be safe.

Hey Kim, Happy New Year.
I hit the sack around 2:30 and my cat just woke me up at 5:15 wanting to be fed, so here I sit at the computer for a few moments. I'll catch a few more Zs here in a minute. Hope everyone got a proper smooch at midnight.
Go 2015!

Re: Happy New Year!!!!
'Morning Guys,
Rod, I'd surely send you some of this coolness if I could. and hope you can get back to sleep Mr. Rusty !!
Some of the local R/C guys are having their Annual Unofficial New Years Day Fun-Fly over at Cairo's little airport, so I'm figuring to head over there around noon. I last did it back in 1999 or so, and this time there's supposed to be some kind of food deal gonna happen.
Apparently, there's yet another rift in the local club's membership. The club president stopped by Tailwinds yesterday and told me he didn't think he'd attend since it wasn't 'sanctioned', but I was later told that it's because the deal is organized by a guy who'd had a falling-out with some other members. And the ball rolls on...
Anyway, gonna pack up my rebuilt-but-not-yet-flown Super Ringmaster (yeah I DO occasionally finish a project!) and try it out if the winds are good.
I'll post some video or photos if I take them.
Also, here's a New Year's NEWS Flash for all you 'model airplane guys' breathlessly related by one of our customers yesterday:
"Ya know...before all this radio control equipment came along, 'they' flew model airplanes on steel cables...going around and around...with NO way to stop them until the gas ran out! Ain't that Crazy??!!"
Kim sits behind his cash register, nodding..."Yeah...totally nuts."

Re: Happy New Year!!!!
Getting up early for me has it's benefits. I didn't make it past 10 pm last night. Today though even with the temps in the mid 30's the Philly Flyers are having our traditional New Year Fly in. Today doesn't need the company of a shovel but it will certainly require lots of lighter fluid and hand warmers. I'm hoping our Facebook designer Rich Martinez will be present with video. We were going for a mass fly of planes. I've made to 7 people in the circle before it looked like we were playing lawn darts. More importantly, it will be finding launchers and flyers today. I hope we get a good turn out. Regardless it gives some of us a chance to try some things we've worked on over the past few weeks. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!

Lotsa shooting here in mid ga too. I got into it a little bit with my muzzle loader packed with blank charges (Nice fireball!) other than that, I didn't do a whole lot since i'm still somewhat getting over this mess that I've had for the last several weeks. Glad everyone is having a great new year! (Bandit)

Re: Happy New Year!!!!
Went out this morning for my traditional crazy flight of the 1st day of the year, with a key-chain camera mounted on my plane to shoot a short in-flight vid for youtube and CEF...Turned out real crazy, with my TD050 driven R/C Skorch landing on top of a 30 feet tree with lots of thorns. I had to climb halfway up the tree - with temperature below freezing - to shake this rascal off its top branch, and on my way down I clasped my left palm into a thorn that went deep in my flesh..gosh, it is pretty swollen now, and I also had to replace the covering on the wings....needless to say that even the video was not recorded on the camera for some reason...
Anyway, 2015 can only be better than it started for me on Jan 1st.

Re: Happy New Year!!!!
Thanks Getback. ..In fact I deserved what I got because despite similar mishaps and subsequent promises that I will keep far from the bushy area of the field I took off again there...This is a bit remote from where people walk their dogs and I do not want to bother them. ..and their unleashed pitbull terriers that either run at you or jovially collect and bring your plane back in their jaws after it landed. As one can see aeromodeling is kinda romantic here..
Happy 2015 to you all András (balogh)
