Re: Workbench clutter
LOL, wait until I post a pic of my table! Its BAD! Both my downstairs table and the garage workbench. The workbench in the garage has things on it that have been there for at least 10 years. This summer it is all going to change. No more room to work on anything anywhere. The basement is destroyed right now, crap just everywhere!
Re: Workbench clutter
My den is a "man cave" for which I made no apologies. My wife has her own room for whatever she wishes to accumulate.
Being too cheap to buy compartmentalized containers I use empty plastic prescription containers which, at my age, I've amassed quite a few. I carefully select out nuts, bolts, washers etc. and store them in individual labeled containers rather than toss them in as a jumbled mass of assorted pieces.

I describe my table as organized chaos.

I simply describe what some of you call "clutter" as ELEGANCE. It's really a matter of perspective, ya' know; mind over matter IMO.

Ha!! There are some advantages to being old. I used one the other night for some odd screws and springs.
Re: Workbench clutter
The little crocodile clip packs I buy come in mini tackle boxes that are perfect for model engine parts.
Re: Workbench clutter
Michael's arts and crafts supply store had the deep bead trays with round bottoms on sale for $2.50 (on sale in this area). Fwiw, they have a pretty good selection of craft /hobby hardwood sheets as well as a Midwest balsa display. Several of the Michael's I have been to all have this hobby balsa and such.

Good tip! Now when my wife "trolls" at Michael's I don't have sit in the van and wait for her to come out!
I'll check out Michael's balsa suppy and see what I'm geting before I buy. (Can't do that with on-line suppliers.)

I use the organizer in my picture. I have since gotten rid of most of that stuff, so it fits back in the box. The dividers are removable, so you can adjust the compartment sizes.

Glad to help.
lots of hobby supply type stuff in there. Epoxy mixing sticks and tin handle disposable brushes in a big bag, proper style brushes for brushing on Brodak colored butrate's(wide tip faders), Badger air brush supplies and kits, Testors paints and wood glue, the list is endless with imagination.

Haha, where's Waldo.microflitedude wrote:Here is my humble contribution. ... Can you find 3 .020's, three Babe Bees, a Norvel .061, two pairs of needle nose pliers, and a Sullivan 1oz tank.
Here is a typical day in the life of my work table. In this picture my project is to get that Black Widow on the tray working. I need to start a thread chronicling the pain in the butt this engine is being. Maybe I'll call it, "The Little Engine that Can't."
See the wingtip on the Jumpin' Bean
I don't have any tool organizers except for that ceramic frog at the dark end of the table. I can't believe I haven't busted him in the 25 years he's been holding screwdrivers, files, pliers etc. I want to get something to contain my modeling tools.

Re: Workbench clutter
That wingtip has been cracked for a long time, but it was getting floppier even though the covering was holding it in place. Then I noticed it had a cracked rib, #2 from the root, and I decided to fix her up. I might have cracked the rib with my stooge, I'm not sure. Anyway, I repaired the balsa and recovered the wing. Then I mounted my Medallion on it and made a balloon bladder for a belly tank. I can't wait to see how she flies with her new makeover.
