Moved up my departure to Tuesday morning...can't let Tony and Steve get TOO far ahead on the fun! So the prep and load-out begins.

Spent the afternoon working on some projects and barn-hiding my vehicles against some impressive T-Storms heading this way.

Looks like this year is going to be a S.M.A.L.L. control-liner year. Got one of the 'Bucket-o-Planes' Shoestring ready to go, apparently built by a fellow named Jim Hawkins.

Here we go...rolled in late yesterday, cruising down I-55, with a right turn at Memphis, and looping around some huge T-Storm cells that were tracking across Little Rock and central Arkansas.

Had just enough time to level the camper when Steve and Tony showed up. After a cursory walk of the field, we headed over to Steve's house for some airplane & stuff loading, and then out for some giant hamburgers.

So now, got the Folgers going, to be followed by a little more set-up with the van and camper before the boys arrive.

Stand by for some fun stuff !!!!

We broke our previous record (75) with approximately 90 1/2A glow and diesel powered models present at SMALL 2017. AWESOME!!!!!

Don't know if any more flying happened after we flew our 'Close-Out' flights Sunday morning, but it was an extremely full event for me.

Tony made some last high-speed passes with his 'Barn Swallow' (my name for his fast TeeDee .020 powered model).

I got in my first flights with my Swap Meet Norvel/Rascal. Good little plane and engine, but I paid for the last flight by not using those last minutes to finish packing out my camper. Got a ROYAL hosing a few moments later as I tried to sort my gear in a raging downpour.

All ended well though, and got home bedraggled but mostly OK.

SMALL 2018 preps are underway at my place. A couple of old crusty Cox engines are being restored to duty. A couple of new Cox engines and a pile of parts are on order. A new LaStick wing is coming together to replace the one involved in the drone mid-air. A new TD .020-powered Skaliwag Skunkworks project is underway. Plans have been printed out and wood purchased for a Sharkface build. And more! Only 11 months to get ready!

Yes sir!! Same here....Cox parts arrived yesterday, balsa lumber yard purchased, and plans printed. Dedicating some time during this long holiday weekend to making templates and cutting parts, in between trips to the beach during our 5 day stay at Vandenberg AFB.
