It's beginning to look a lot like......
Well, Christmas eve in Aus. The sun is about to set after pushing the temp up to around 35°C. A relaxing evening for the locals with Christmas Carols in the park as the locals picnic on the grass eating their "fish & chip" (take out) dinner. It's always a bright, happy & colourful time, even if most of the crowd ignore what the carols are talking about. Not such an attractive event for Janet & I these days with our two boys now all grown up and not wanting to be seen with mum & dad. It was fun while it lasted.
The chicken is roasting in the oven for tomorrow's hot roast lunch, with the forecast predicting another 35°C day for Christmas Day.
The things we do for tradition.
Church in the morning, then lunch at home with just the four of us, then off to my sister's place for the evening with her four kids and eight grandkids (& lots more food- she's a cook). First Christmas without our mum, so that will be a little different.
Then we do it all again as we head a couple of hours away to the city on Boxing Day (day after Christmas day) for lunch with Janet's mum.
Have a great one everyone. Not sure I will be talking to you much tomorrow. Way too much food to keep me distracted all day.
Rod.

35C is 95F for us yanks across the pond. Here it was warm too at 55F with rain. Even heard a crack of thunder today. El Niño has us warmer than usual. Last year it was closer to 0F.

I bet it looks funny to you guys to log on here and see a snow covered tree next to the forum logo LOL.
It was 32°F (0°C) yesterday, got some snow overnight too. Less than an inch, melted on the driveway and the roads right away. Supposed to have a high of 28°F (-2.2°C) today. Really didn't get much snow yet this year.
Have a Merry Christmas!

Supposed to be a high of 85F for Christmas day .... yes Santa .... the pool is open!
Big neighbourhood party tonight .... and tomorrow, look forward to my daughter and 2 year old grandson in the early afternoon. Wish they could get here earlier, but I've been in her shoes. Everyone expects a visit and gets excited for the little ones.
There going to need a rental truck to get all the gifts outta here ... my wife went alittle overboard. I can't complain as its my wifes favorite time ...
Merry Christmas CEF!!!

Same storm front passed thru here last evening on the way to Phil in Ohio. Forecast is for 68 today, 63 on Christmas and 74 on Saturday. We're also looking at a high probability of rain starting Christmas evening running through Monday.
It's been an odd season so far -- as we old f@rts sometimes say, "Well, I remember when ....." Frankly, I don't remember a winter this warm -- guess this will be the winter of 2015 when the bushes were flowering on Christmas day.

Drove home from work today and it was 72 deg in Philadelphia. I had the window down the whole ride. I loved it. Wish it would stay like this. Ken

-15 C / 5 F currently here, dipping a bit lower with the possibility of more of the darn white stuff tonight. But overall it has been good this year so far.

Christmas morn as I type with a Total Fire Ban in place for our state. The whole state is a tinder box. We get really nervous around this time.
Good news is over an inch of rain forecast for tomorrow. It will be very welcome.

Nice going Eric! I got the urge to run an engine today too.. but ran out of daylight. High 60's (F) here in Rhode Island.. and is forecast to be mild for at least the next few days. Lynne and I will be spending Christmas thru the 27th on Cape Cod (E. Dennis, MA) at her mom's home. It should be even warmer there. It's a 1/4 mi. walk to the ocean. We had plans to travel locally tonight to see "my" family.. but it ain't gonna happen. At least there's wifi where I'll be.. so I can check-in here over the next few days. I gotta pull the carb off her mom's ride-on mower for rebuild. Eric said he'd walk me through that process! (Thanks Eric... don't forget to drain the fuel tank Roddie..)
Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!

Merry Christmas to you Rod and all the Members!
We have a church service tonight (Christmas eve) and tomorrow my wife's Mom (maybe dad) her sister and two kids will be here for a Turkey dinner. I lost my mom almost three years ago and holidays and birthdays are just not the same but, that's life...
It was 74F here today but wind and rain. i am off till after the new year and hoping for some flying weather.. been way too long!

I'm sorry about your Mom Roger, it's the pain that just doesn't go away.
I was fortunate to keep my Mother for many years as she passed away at 104. It's getting over the loss of my wife taken to soon that is difficult for me. It is life, but tough to take for sure.
We have a friend that we graduated from high school with whose son ended his life a few years ago this very night. I will have to send a supportive message to her this evening. It's difficult to understand on this joyous occasion that Christmas can be a very depressing time for some.
