It was 94°F today, looking at 96°F tomorrow, and 98°F on Monday.
Dodged a storm yesterday, got really dark, weather radio in the garage went off, I ran around and put away the gardening crap, closed everything up...nothing. All the action was a few miles north.
It is hotter up there than it is in South Florida! Of course, we haven't seen the sun for a few days due to Alberto. At least it isn't another hurricane. Plus, we need the rain very badly.

Pouring here. I should be building a ark instead of planes. Rained now for a week and half and now this today. Maybe we can catch a break in the weather today as were supposed to have our fly in. I hope so.

Re: How's the weather?
Here in Northern Rhode Island, it was a sunny/steamy 90 degrees on Saturday. Yesterday and so-far today though... temps have dropped to mid-50's with overcast skies and intermittent drizzle/showers. We usually buy and plant flowers on Memorial Day weekend.. but not this year.

Re: How's the weather?
Last week we had an un-predicted severe weather event with high winds, a tornado and massive rain.... little town west of me Richardson in San Saba county got leveled
Wife and I got nothing better to do so hooked up trailer and took excess supplies I had...2x4 and ply plus 10 cases of bottled water
too infirm to help with clean up so just a drive by to the fire station
after the storms 4 inches our humidity is hovers in the 80% every day under 97F heat and full sun....
The few years I lived near Jacob in Fridley MN highest we saw was 98F thankfully only for a few days in the 70s
curious how this years tropical storm and hurricane season will progress...started early with this current blow

Re: How's the weather?
My son and I were able to get in about 4 hrs of fly time today which was nice. Forecast was for 70% chance of rain. No sooner did we get packed up the skies just cut loose with a major downpour. While it was in the forecast, the skies didn't indicate this was going to happen. It just turned within minutes. The wiper blades just couldn't keep up with the rate it was falling bringing the highway to a halt. I haven't experienced this much rain in these past few weeks in 25 years. I hope the summer doesn't become robbed of rain when needed.

Re: How's the weather?
Snowing in Greenland. Low humidity and low winds. No chance of flying or building. I was served Venison for dinner which was wonderful. Back home temps were in the 90’s
Sun doesn’t go down where I am at which makes sleeping difficult.

Re: How's the weather?
Ron, if you are where I think you are, that’s WAY up there! Not a long way to the North Pole... around there I suppose regular magnetic compass can’t always be trusted. I’ve never visited Greenland, just flown over it several times.
Around here it hasn’t rained for a month and severe wildfire warnings have been posted. Even the use of charcoal grills is discouraged. Have to get a new cylinder for the gas grill that’s been dormant for a few years since I discovered Weber and the fun and aroma of proper grilling
Temperatures have been high (for the region anyway), I definitely could use some rain, it would decrease the amount of pollen in the air. Haven’t done any flying, or anything else model aviation related. No planes ready, not much enthusiasm to fix them either. The workshop is still a mess. On the plus side, I have been riding my Honda to the office almost every day
Our apple tree was blossoming better than in several years, so we should get a decent harvest in the fall

Gets to be a regular thing this time of year. Lucky for me, this one just blew through with no hail, and just one blast of wind.
My buds at the airport tucked the B-25 in a hangar...they were more in line with the bad stuff which fortunately didn't materialize.

Re: How's the weather?
But then, don't many of those in Miami wear overcoats when the temps drop below 65F (18C)?
(Reason why I say this, is I observed that of the Okinawans for 2 years, at same latitude as Miami)
Certainly looks like you could have had a tornado but didn't. I've seen those type clouds over eastern New Mexico, and as beautiful as they are, a little spooky especially when riding a motorcycle and at least a half hour to hour away from the nearest village (no gas stops or houses between). Happened to me about 2 years ago leaving Las Vegas NM (a really nice small city in the middle of nowhere up north) on the way to Fort Sumner and to Clovis.
Then about 3 years ago, at crack of dawn, was headed toward the Guadalupe County Prison in Santa Rosa NM, 2 hours from Clovis, visitation ride with Christian Motorcyclists Association. After Fort Sumner, half way way mark, encountered wind and rain. Saw a twister touch down about 2 miles in front of us on US 84. Funnel came down, touched a ridge line next to the highway, then retracted itself back into the clouds.
I was certainly fully awake after that.

Anything in 40s or below is bone chilling down here for me, funny you see youth wearing hoodies sweat shirts when it 95 in the shade. I assume they are criminals and sharpen awareness.
A friend told a story about riding open road and wondering why the road was white up ahead, it was hail and he almost went down when he hit it.

Re: How's the weather?
Now that you mention it, crankbndr, was in Portales 20 miles away with my motorcycle chapter, late Spring about 4 years ago. Started to head back to Clovis when we saw rain drops. By the time I was about 4 miles outside the city on US-70, it started to hail. Hail continued until I got to Clovis, 20 minutes later. Fortunately my touring motorcycle, 2001 Kawasaki ZG1200 XII had a full fairing, so I didn't get pelted too badly. But it hailed hard enough with marble sized hail that it knocked the chrome fender emblem shield off it. There is no place to stop or pull over on that road until one hits Clovis city limits, where the first gas station is.
Only solution was to continue riding through that thunder storm.

Yeah, gotten that treatment a few times...sometimes on my own, sometimes with the help of my buds!!!
Western Kansas...do you push on and hope for a town with a car wash to hide in, or set up under an overpass and wait for the coming abuse !!!
One of the spookyest moments of any trip I've taken was when Vince and I rode through Greenburg, Kansas...a few months after an EF-5 Tornado 'erased' the town...

Been there done that
once was hail, once sand blown across interstate, once was salt water blown across interstate.....
Live long enough and ride a bike or drive a car long distances they is no telling.... worst was 70 miles up in smokey mountains with fog so thick we actually walked our powered bikes about 3~5 miles until we could finally see 10 to 15 yard ahead then back on at 5~10 MPH what seemed like a long time
I also had to stop on the I-5 freeway near Seattle to dig the snow out of the front wheel wells as I could no longer steer left or right
or the trip across I-10 from El Paso to Fort hood where blowing sand made the right side of my truck bright metal matte finish and destroyed all that side windows....
No weather event but our long trip across I-80 west to east was so long and boring I got pulled over for 75 in a 55 MPH zone.... I offered DL, INs, Mil Id, and commented to the Nebraska State trooper...."once I am clear of this state I never want to see another corn field!"...he laughed and gave me a warning....He was former Army from Viet Nam era and knew I was telling truth when I told him when I needed to report for duty ASAP
He actually came back to the Van to give me my warning ticket and said he radioed ahead ...I was good to the state line BUT once out of Nebraska I need to dial it back...next state IA only gives 5 MPH lee way YEP sure enough out side Des Moins I policed up a 60 in 55 ticket

What's happening?
This isn't supposed to happen here! I know it's winter in AUS, but this just doesn't happen.
Actually, while it looks like snow but is actually hail. Woke us up in the middle of the night. Stressed out the gutters on my barn. I'll have to bend them back into shape.
And yes, I can post pictures once again. Took a brand new iMac to do it.
