Do you fly electric? Flight pack battery chargers can usually be set for the desired chemistry and charge rate. Just need the right adapter.

????? I don't understand

Then why do you need a new charger? did the NiMh batteries get charged? did they get hot? no. all is good. All you need to do is watch the charge current and the charge time. Charge current typically is battery capacity divided by 10 and charge time is typically battery capacity divided by charge current + 10%. The NiMh settle in voltage, reach a maximum, then go down slightly, when fully charged. NiCd are more rugged, but less capacity per cubic inch of battery. Please don't spend $30.00 to $50.00 to charge 4 cells to 6.00 volts. Futaba recommended charging them at 30 mAhr with 8 volt source for 16 hours, the 4 AA cell 450 mAhr battery packs they used to sell with their receivers, (16 X .03 mAhr = .48 Ahr or 480 mAhr just over the 450 mAhr rating).
You can buy an adequate charger for less than $10.00, a great charger for $20.00, one with AC plug. I have purchased Chargers for my Lithium batteries for only $3.50, they needed a DC source of course. I have AC-DC chargers from the old electric car days when they had timers on them to keep the high current charges, 6 Amp., from overheating the old NiCd batteries. Some of the NiCd batteries were not made to take that fast a charge. The newer RC car batteries, non-LiPo, can handle high current charges, who wants to wait 16 hours to run the car again. I use the High Current DC supply to supply voltage and High Current to my batteries and the new cheap Chinese $3.50 charge limiter controls the battery voltage and detects when it reaches it's peak and shuts the charge down to a trickle letting the battery cool down.
PM me for more info.

Thanks happydad I used an old futaba charger I don't have my meter up at the house but plugged it in to the plane and it works ! I had charger both receiver and transmitter for 16 Hrs. unfortunately I had the transmitter ON and it didn't take a charge I think it took form it as its dead now so I put it back on charge . I will check it later I don't have much $ to spend that's why I was asking if any one had to trade ? I looked at some the ones that work with a/c V but if I don't need it i'll hold off for now . I don't understand all this voltage change stuff Eric

I use a lot of NiMH batteries around the house with 2 kids. My fast charger is acting up, which might be a number of reasons, so I was reading up on the technology. I think I need to slow charge a couple cycles, and I think my fast charger is built for older lower capacity batteries than I have been using in it.

a fair part of this page is relevant, specifically the low rate charging.

Thanks for the article. I hope members read it. Some batteries can take fast charge and some can't. Some of the newer consumer batteries are made for less and less recharge cycles. WHY? So you will buy more batteries. Try to buy the industrial use batteries. They are built to last longer, and take more recharge cycles. If the battery says 100 recharge cycles, use it the toss it. If you try to push the battery to 150 cycles sometimes you can have a shorted or dead battery, and that can be bad in an industrial environment. For the average consumer, you just toss it, I mean recycle it by toss it.

I can have a look if you so need one. If so, would you need the standard Futaba charger that does Tx and Rx?
