Re: Brodak Mustang Build
Rusty,
Yes it has some sort of particulate in it.
Once I put polyspan on the wings my son said the red stuff looked like bacon! He was right.

I like CF control rods, they give that bit of extra precision to your control input. And it looks professional too. I even use a tiny CF tube on my Li'l Satan. Cute. Which reminds me, I have a 1/2A Mustang and another Li'l Satan still in the box.

White fillets on pink tissue packs the aesthetic punch of 1970s feminine hygiene product packaging. Should spray primer Monday.

Nope, you can still buy it here and the last gallon I purchased was under a new label by Chroma Color. The numbers are still the same 3608S.

hmmm...from everything i'd read, seen or heard, it was a foregone conclusion that DuPont was taking it off the market? I guess that goes to show you don't believe everything you read, hear or see.
Re: Brodak Mustang Build
Jim I use Aero Gloss Thinner about 1/2 and 1/2 ,, I tried to get that DuPont stuff and no one at the paint stores know of it . EricJPvelo wrote:Eric,

Wicked Jim! Nice to have paintin' weather. That can put a damper on finishing a build. Looking forward to seeing it all decked-out!

Looks good Jim,
Are you expecting a trim problem?

No, I just wanted to experiment on this one. If I build a full fuselage stunter I'll know what I'm doing, hopefully.

Jim, that's a Brodak kit? Is John Miller the CAD designer? I'm very curious as to why the small sheeted leading edge and not a full D tube back to the spar. Did the kit offer the fairings from the leading edge to the fuse? Ken

Yes, it's a Brodak. The kit has two little triangle fairings for the leading edge. They install over the landing gear. I was going to leave them off.

I think the adjustable trim tab and the anchor point is a good idea. Hopefully you won't need it, but I usually seem to. I think every plane I have except the Shoestring and the Magnum(R.I.P) needs one. I carry several aluminum ones in my flight box of various sizes and degrees of deflection.
Rusty
I've read here about trim-tabs before. How does the adjustment part function? I was trying to envision a way of doing it. What I was thinking; is a thin steel strip/tab mounted chordwise inside the wing, and extending out a slot in the T/E. A captive sheet-metal screw would thread through the inside center of the strip. Turning the screw in/out would cause the strip to bow in either direction. Is that thinking way too far outside the "tip-weight" box?
Here's the finished trim tab, 4-40 all thread with adjustable ball links:

Re: Brodak Mustang Build
That'll do it.
I think I'll add one to my Twister wing, now on the table. I'll probably use #2 hardware with a small 1/2A horn, and punch through the wing as close as I can, to avoid drag as much as possible, Maybe anchor it to a ply web between the top and bottom spars. As far as weight, that's just some you don't have to add to the box.

That looks anchored through the weight box lid.
Good idea.

You could just fly it and see if it even needs one.
