Dunno if any of you hero's were out today but it was COLD here.
Do you guys struggle with these things when the temp drops?
I took my 010 out to our field this afternoon to astound the chaps
and even though it fired up first time indoors this AM it was
a Pig to start outdoors in the cold.
Out of the corner of my brain I think I remember the same when I
was a kid.
Whaddya reckon?

I recon that Cox engines are difficult to start in the cold. Relax and settle for a nice spiced wine or hot buttered rum by the fireside.
lol!
BTW, what do you consider "cold"?

Very Happy
One of the 'Gang' has been holding out on me, he turned up
with this speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed thing with a tank pressured
Tee Dee 09 up front we couldn't get that going either.
Although, the 010 did go eventually.

Very Happy
Might just hit the grog now I've got permission
lol!

I was out today and even ran a diesel.
Not cold mate is was out in a T shirt.
I find engines easier to start when cold especially diesels because ether is less prone to evaporate from the fuel at lower temps.but I don't usually bother my glow engines web cold because they take longer to start.

I don't think they glow as bright when it's cold.
Did it have a spring starter?

Not too sure if this is timeless and I doubt the wisdom but
I seem to have been unfaithful tonight...
I accidentally bought something call a Norvel earlier.
At this rate Dave it's gonna be Meths out a paperbag
On the street never mind wine. Very Happy

I know this will sound like I'm a complete Drongo but
I assume the rc means it's throttled?

Btw
When I left the field at 16.00 the Jamjar had been
Parked for four hours and the glow plugs flashed
For a couple seconds/first time this winter...

I was kinda looking at these last week.
I used to get my cyano off Ann and Bill at
5*.
Have you built one?
12in seems v small but truth be told
One reason I haven't done anything
With the stick is it sort of involves
Cutting things and to my eternal
Shame I've sort of gotten used to
(whisper) artf's... Embarassed

Take the cylinder/glowhead off and stick it in your pocket on your way to the field. That way it is nice and warm when you are ready.

Yeah i built one.
But the maiden did not go too well due to my fault for trying to maiden her on a windy day lol.

They are perfect if you are used to ARFs assembly is quick and easy but fun and no cutting.
They are actually 14" but can be built to 12" i built mine to 14: by mistake lol because it is what the plans called for.

Is that the Scrubs?
I couldn't see if that was the Hospital or Chokey in the background.
I didn't realise they had that much dihedral.
Is that the 010 in it cos it seems fairly spritely?

Hot off the press 4th flip and the 010 ran straight away in office/girls
not in yet Very Happy ...
I guess this means they just don't like the cold.
It's not a prob now I know I'll just keep in in the car with heater on
cos where we fly on a Sunday we can drive right onto the strip.
And it's what I do with my (shhhhhhh) lipo's in the Winter
anyway.
lol!

No this was not at scrubs I don't fly there much this was in a local common/green/park.

No that was not a .010 it was dare I say it a little brushed motor.and 1s lipo set up.
That flight was at about 1/3rd throttle so wold have been way faster at full I would imagine it would be quite a bit slower on .010 power but the plans say it has been flown on engines up to AE .5cc
