049 Medallion questions
Does anyone know what packaging this engine came with, the product # and if there were unique instructions for the engine.
We bought one the other day in a jewel case but the engine did not fit properly and the instructions were for the "regular" Medallion.

Isn't that a Hiscott throttle/muffler?
I didn't know Cox ever sold any of their engines with this Hiscott unit. Wasn't the throttle/muffler strictly aftermarket?

Re: 049 Medallion questions
This from Hepperle's website:
Medallion .049 R/C (0.8 cm³)
Manufactured ca. in 1968 (#240 and throttle #2450)
Here we have a .049 Medallion with the combined carburetor/exhaust throttle control and its linkage. The adjustment lever moves a piston in the exhaust duct and also connects to a throttle flap inside the carburetor. This is probably the best combination to achieve low rpm on these small engines. The engine was sold complete with mounted throttle, but the throttle assembly was also sold as a separate item which had to be installed by the owner.

Re: 049 Medallion questions
That is not a Hiscott throttle/muffler as mentioned above.
I have seen Medallion jewel case inserts with the addition of a R/C on them. Not sure though of these were for just the throttle ring versons.

Re: 049 Medallion questions
I don't recall ever seeing an R/C Medallion .049 come with that throttle. I know the throttle was sold as a part.
Re: 049 Medallion questions
Here is my throttle ring equipped Medallion .09.
It doesn't have any tool marks on the beam mounts. The engine is new. Now it does have a gold anodized prop hub but we all know Cox would build engines when they were short the correct parts. The Cox R/C throttle tag is taped on. Doesn't look hand cut. Did it come from the factory like this? Possible.

Re: 049 Medallion questions
Yes, that's a factory packaged, throttle-ring, Medallion and we have some in our collection. They came in jewel cases and also in the black/red boxes.
However, what we are referring to is the packaging for the "slider" version.

Re: 049 Medallion questions
Thanks for confirming the engine I have is factory. As far as the slide throttle control I thought it was only sold as a kit to be added later as others have mentioned.
