Black widow backplate

Black widow backplate
I have a post 1996( I think) black widow with a black plastic backplate. I was wanting to swap it with a metal one. Will any baby bee style backplate work? My black widow performs very well and I am not sure if the backplates are different between bees and widows. Anybody know?

Yes a babe bee one will work but you may want to grind the fuel filling holes off and then block them up.
Re: Black widow backplate
The only differences are -
1. No filler tubes on top
2. Larger venturi
An easier way is to cut two small lengths of pickup tube, then crimp the ends with heat.

Ok, posted same time as me. Guess I need to find a correct bw back as the mods would be too unsightly for my liking.

Re: Black widow backplate
We will be offering plastic BW backplates shortly. They will be modified Babe Bee ones but the mods will be such that it will appear professional; if anyone even notices.

So you will remove the screen, drill out the venturi, an get rid of the tubes?
Or will they be production items?
Re: Black widow backplate
We will modify our production Babe Bee backplates.
They do not have screens anyhow; so nothing to remove and, yes, the venturi hole will be the correct size and we will cut ofr the one filler tube and seal both holes.
They will then cost $3 more than our regular ones that are priced @ $9.95.

Re: Black widow backplate
I have a Bee backplate on my BW. I did what Micro said and crimped the top of some short fuel tube and blocked the nipples. Later I used some hard tube and plugged them with epoxy and glued them on. You have to open up the air hole in the back to BW specs. That's important.

yes but
all my babybee backplates are on engines, and since I never got around to messing with buying a babebee backplate and modding it, I will just buy a Black widow backplate from bernie for my spare engines. I`m down to just one bw now. Those plastic backplates just dont stand up to my crashes
