can someone identify this plane?

can someone identify this plane?
This one was given to may dad www at back when partially finished. It was from what I remember an r/c model. He flew it with a babee bee but I remember it being grossly underpowered but did fly. I am tempted to remove all the old mono coat and recover it. I would also like any suggestions for a more proper engine. It has a 27" wingspan. Dad used a light spring in the rudder so that when it got into the air and picked up some speed the rudder would straighten out some
It did have a nice engine cover that he made for it but it was removed due to it being difficult to get to the engine and it's long gone so that will be something else that needs to be done

It looks like a P-51. Possibly Guillows?

A D model P-51. Looks like my smaller scale "razorback". A scratch build I think.

thanks cribbs!
did a quick ebay search and it sure looks to be a guillows P-51 maybe. don't see this exact shape though. most of what i see there are 27 3/4" wingspan
should i recover it in tissue..... any ideas on a bit more power?

don't know yet. i would think tissue would be lighter... i have not done any tissue since way back when and that was rubber band peanut scale planes mostly. maybe the fuse in balsa? i really don't know yet. looking for ideas and suggestions from those who know
either way i will have to wait till i can afford to order materials. i have spent a small fortune already since getting going again. now that we are getting into summer there are other thing to pay for

Then drift on over to the work table and build some more planes. Even the ancient Chinese knew that you couldn't achieve Chi if your plane-engine is unbalanced. You much achieve balance and harmony, Grasshopper.

Free flight? Only a little underpowered? Then hop up the bee a little with a good p/c set that has boost ports, and drill the venturi through the tank out to get max power.
