Condolences to OldengineRod
I'm sure a lot of you know Rodney Boreham from OZ. I'd been conversing with him over on 049 collectors group. Received this message earlier today.
" My communication may be a little on & off the
next couple of days as my mum just passed away, but I'm ok & will keep
in touch."
I thought I'd pass it along in case anyone wanted to send OldengineRod a PM , or a note to him over on 049collectors group : rnjboreham@dcsi.net.au

Re: Condolences to OldengineRod
Thanks Rene and others who have passed on their good wishes. Word certainly gets around. For those "praying" folks on here, we would appreciate your prayers for the funeral on Friday (Thursday evening US time).
To keep it in context with the group, I'll share with you a story of Mum that I shared with Mark Boesen.
We lived on a farm and the only place I had to fly was out in the cow field beside our house. I couldn't take off from the ground but had to hand launch. Dad was busy on the farm and had little interest in my flying, so mum got the job. She would be working away inside until she heard the engine finally start and quickly come out, grab the plane off me, wait for me to get to the handle and launch. Then she'd go back inside and continue what she was doing until my next flight. What I didn't realize was that she was probably inside trying to scrub the castor oil of her hands and clothes. Good times, and a very long-suffering mum.
Blessings.
Rod.

Nice story Rod and sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like your mother was a very caring and loving person. Regarding her washing herself off from Castor, wouldn't want to put words that wasn't there. After hearing your story and with your mother used to the chores required around the farm, sounds she wasn't phased by the noise or Castor. I'd imagine she just wiped her hands and moved on to the next task.

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family Rod. My Mom was the unyeilding glue that held our family together no matter the number of crises 5 rangy kids could dish out.
Yours was obviously made of Gold also.

Rod,
Running a farm is no small task and usually there is not much time for silly things. The mere fact that she made time for you speaks volumes as to her character. That is probably one example of many good memories you have of your Mother. I am sorry to hear she passed. Passing away is something we all must endure, best to make the most of it every day. Keeping God on the forefront helps in these times.
Prayers for you and yours.
Ron

Re: Condolences to OldengineRod
Thanks everyone. We need to get through the service tomorrow and all your encouragement sure helps. I really appreciate it. It's great to have you folks on my side. While many there tomorrow won't really understand my story about mum & flying, I'm gonna share it because it's important to remember things like that. Make the most of every moment you spend with your loved ones.
