Cox Engine of The Month
a fate worse than pliers

a fate worse than pliers
The listing for this KB said new but the damage was clear in the photos so I threw a low bid and the seller took it.
Turns out its a real KB that someone damaged with Cox wrenches, must not have heard of heat, solvent, etc.
The cylinder and head are toast but the other parts are new.

Nice score. The cylinder may still be salvageable if not distorted by the pliers - I don't see any major markings.
Are you selling any of it or keeping it for parts? I ask because I have an .051 built up from new parts, minus an OEM crank. Bernie's cranks are OK but I have had issues with QC.

Yes... "Fliers" not pliers .........
Re: a fate worse than pliers
Great find! Find an Estes Killer Bee and swap cylinders as they're still the same. You can get a NOS for $44.95 HERE. Might be able to straighten out the fins on that cylinder or maybe turn the fins off it. Or, you could pull the crank from it (or use the case as-is and build a Venom clone!
Re: a fate worse than pliers
If it isn't distorted inside, I would use the cylinder anyways. It is a good candidate for grinding the fins off, or other abuse.
