Problem to start my Pee Wee 020
Hello,
I bought a Thimble Drome Pee Wee 020 new in blister. This engine has 50 years aprox and when I opened, I saw that it had humidity and something like clay or mud. Then I cleaned it and I tried to start it. I Spent an hour trying to start it and nothing happened. Only two times the engine started but after 5 seconds, stopped.
Someone could help me?
Thanks,
Juan.
PD: Here´s a picture of the Pee Wee, and today I´m going to upload some pictures of the Pee Wee disassembled

Juan:
Welcome to CECF!
Don't mean to put you off, but the "search" function will cover the problem. See the "troubleshooting guide" by Cox International.
Most likely the enginine isn't get fuel which is not at all uncommon in Cox engines that have sat unused for may years. Recommend a disassembly and through cleaning of parts and replacement of gaskets especially the venturi gasket inside the fuel tank.
Again, see the troubleshooting guide (above).

Dave is correct and follow advice. Main problems with Cox is need to be very clean, good batteries and correct fuel. Shoot some oil in intake and rotate. Reed is gummed up I bet.

It's probably a good thing it didn't crank and run, as the lubricant that was on the crankshaft and internals is probably long gone. I bought a couple of brand new Black Widows recently and did a complete teardown before even considering running them. Yours is no doubt leaking air at the crankcase gasket and venturi. You got a good little engine, and a couple of gaskets, a pickup tube and some light oil all over the internals will have it new again. Be sure and get some oil down the crankshaft. You can get it in there between the prop drive plate and the crankcase nose and work it in. I usually put some fuel in the piston while it sits bottom up on the table to get the ball socket lubricated.
And keep paper towels away from the fuel tank and needle valve areas. Lint free rags like T-shirt material are best. One bit of lint can interfere with the tiny fuel orifice.

Re: Problem to start my Pee Wee 020
First question is.
What fuel are you using?
second,
Is this you first cox engine?
Then we can start as there are a lot of things that could be wrong I can most like tell you whats wrong if you tell me your starting procedure.

Hi,
I´m using nitro fuel 25%. Is composed of:
_ anhydrous methanol
_ Castor Oil
_ Sintetic castor oil
It´s my second engine. I started with a Cox .049 Surestart Engine.
The starting procedure is like the Cox Starting Guide. http://coxengines.ca/EOG.pdf
My first engine starts fine but with this one I have problems. I think that I have to change some parts like venturi gaskets, fuel pick up tube and spring, reed valve and retainer, etc.

Yes changing the gaskets is a good place to start an maybe also check if there is a glowhead gasket there as if this is not present or compressed to much the engine wont run right.
