Cribbs, Microflitedude Matt and me flying at the fort - The Lost Files

Cribbs, Microflitedude Matt and me flying at the fort - The Lost Files
We had a great day flying. Had to cancel the trip to Bob Z's, as he had to fix his Hot Water heater today. He called us at the fort to check on us and said it was raining at his house anyway.
Matt cracked up his Ringmaster first flight of the day. Picked his handle up upside down. He gutted it out pretty well until the fuel got low and the Fox started surging. Then the backwards control inputs became too much mind/muscle overload and it hit hard sending the rib ripper spar a few inches farther forward. The fuse is fine though.
I flew the Magnum, what a graceful stable plane. Ron and I flew the Yak-9, never a disappointment. Then we all got some kickass Li'l Satan flights. I bet none of those reed speed planes could catch this little Tee Dee powered monster!
Here's a primer. I'll post more of the flight report tomorrow.
Here's Matt and Ron on the Satan and me on a short tanked over rich test flight of the Magnum.

Nice to see you guys out enjoying some flying time together! Man that Little Satan is a HOTROD!!! Definitely not for the "faint of heart"!
Rusty.. that Magnum is NICE! I hope it didn't cause you any discomfort in your healing arm. That's a BIG airplane!!!!!!!!!

That TD is a lot of engine for that little plane. I think it was designed around a Babe Bee. It's feels great to me though. The good thing is Rusty builds straight so even fast it's predictable.
My flying has been very reserved while here in SC, when using borrowed toys I tend to stick to comfortable stunts so as not to re-kit a friends plane and destroy their hard work.
Rusty has really shown me a good time during my visit, today he was under the weather and still managed to organize a great day. Temps were in the 40's so engine runs were affected. Castor based fuel tends to thicken and needles were opened significantly to compensate.
The Magnum is an excellent flier and even rich that Big Block O.S. Could pull it over the top.
Great times and lasting memories. Thanks Rusty (Nail)
