Can you identify this Cylinder and Glowhead?
Does anyone recognize this cylinder and glow head? This is the third time I have seen this cylinder on a cox engine. The other two times they were on Spacebug engines. It reminds me of an Aurora Tornado cylinder, except there are no fins below the exhaust port. Also, the glow head has wrench cuts whereas the Tornado glow head only has holes. Thanks, Andy

Nothing notably fancy there. The cylinder and glow head are stock which has been turned down on a lathe. This was a common practice used to fit the cylinder within a cowling on speed planes. One plane in particular which was the Peanut and Hellrazor. This engine though with it's fuel bowl and induction tube crudely installed onto the rear of the cylinder suggests to me it was used for free flight possibly. Ken

Thanks Ken. Can you identify the cylinder in this thread?

I was looking at it yesterday, and noticed that the Piston is identical to the early space bug/thermal hopper piston. It is slightly raised at the top. I have a thermal hopper engine that I purchased last month, that is an exact match. The cylinder functions perfectly on a space bug crankcase too. It excepts a small diameter cox glow head, although the glow head is not flush with the cylinder. It overhangs slightly. Thanks for any information. Andy

That one looks like it has the same thing going on. Early small thread cylinder with the fins turned down.
It's a good possibility seeing as you say it had a 3 piece piston.
