Hello All,
Could someone confirm that the RR1 now listed on ebay is original?
* The backplate got a Big hole and no metal mess
* The screws supplied looks not orgiginal?

Re: Authentic RR1 on Ebay?
I would say it is original. It has all the original major features, the backplate didn't come with a screen on the rr-1. The screws do look original and even come with the original nuts! Are you looking to buy it and use it or are you looking to have it as a collectors item?

Looks real to me.
If you have doubts, ask him to open it up and take a picture of the rotary valve.

If it is NIB I doubt he would do that considering the last time that rotary valve saw light was last century!
Re: Authentic RR1 on Ebay?
Thank you all for the reply's,
Unfortunately I did not win it. Would love to have one in my collection, but at $500,- they lost me
When the Euro will recover, i can bid some more.
THANK YOU GREECE

If it make you feel any better, I probably could have added that the spinner is probably not original...
Re: Authentic RR1 on Ebay?
The $12.50 shipping killed it for me
Seriously, from an investors viewpoint, (not just as a collector), what would have been a fair price?

A average price for a RR-1 NIB... From what I have seen in the past years, I would have to say $350 for a NIB one and around $150 to $250 for a out of box one depending on the condition.
I don't remember 100% but I believe this RR-1 sold for $85 2 years ago or so.
RR1
I would pass on this engine. Case has deep mark on front end. Rusted cylinder and hate to see insides. Blue tank is very beat up. Depends on what parts you need.

Re: Authentic RR1 on Ebay?
I reckon it could be cleaned up nicely then straightened and re-anodised and if need be one could replace the cylinder and piston.dankar04 wrote:I would pass on this engine. Re: Authentic RR1 on Ebay?
In regards to the NIB RR-1, the RR-1 used the same spinner as the Tee Dee, starting with the intro of the Tee Dee in ’61.
The second RR-1 is pretty ruff, beauty is in the eye of the beholder there, you gotta think what it would cost to re-anodize. I’d think you’d be better off buying a nicer one for more money.

I guess but I really like restoring engines that prove to be worth it!Mark Boesen wrote:In regards to the NIB RR-1, the RR-1 used the same spinner as the Tee Dee, starting with the intro of the Tee Dee in ’61.

Yes, without a doubt, I love to restore old engines and if it's a labor of love, you can't put a price on it.
One of my favorite past times is Esniping ( http://esnipe.com/ ) a basket case, plastic gas powered model airplane off of eBay and bring it back to life with a few new parts and a pint of elbow grease.
