Cox Engine of The Month
TD and Medallion crankcases?

TD and Medallion crankcases?
I know I've read about putting TD cranks in Medallion engines, and Medallion cranks in TD engines. But is the crankcase the same for both the TD and Medallion? I recently got a left hand TD crank, and I won an auction for a TD crankcase, but I was thinking about putting a Medallion venturi body I have on it to make it easier to run on suction, as I don't want to fool with bladders. But I just got to wondering if the cases are the same. It seems as they should be?

And speaking of fooling with things, some of us bladder users quit on tanks because we were tired of fooling with them... at least for high gee applications. No tank is as simple and your days of tuning needle settings are over. Set and forget. I used to change them out all the time thinking they would deteriorate, but I have two planes I fly on 9 month old bladders. A bag of spares in case I need a 10 second swap, but they just keep on going. Just saying... not being a tank snob or smartass, just trying to spread the word on how they simplify cranking and running, reedies and rotaries.

Re: TD and Medallion crankcases?
Even though I find the run far superior on bladder. I appreciate the simplicity of a good old fashion hard tank.
Fly, fuel, flip! Rinse and repeat.
Mind you, if I had a third hand then bladder would be somewhat simple as well. It is possible to have a good run on a hard tank, but sometimes it takes a little work.
I have honed my technique, but I still find it fiddley.
9 months is a good long time Rusty. Mine burst after 1 day of use and it ticks me off to watch all that fuel spill on the ground.
My thoughts anyway.

Edit: For the record I am not against bladders as the run is outstanding and it's worth the extra effort.
