Question about lines
I,m building a Banshee and am down to getting my lines tied.My question is with Sig line kits do I still have to measure them from end to end,or can I measure back from the ends to make my terminations.

Re: Question about lines
I don't quite understand your question. If I may add some advice. I'm assuming you have the Sig lines and both ends need to be terminated. This plane only requires .015's. One thing I found with Sig lines is to always pay careful attention to the terminations prior to flying. I've had many break and fray right at the termination. To avoid this, I chamfer the aluminum crush sleeves using a #11 blade. I then properly do the termination and use the proper swaging tool for the crimp. Don't use wire cutters or regular pliers for that matter. You will receive a lot more durability from the lines if you provide heat shrink tubing over the crush sleeve and back onto the wire. Heat shrink tubing about 1 1/4" long is more than sufficient.
For the Banshee, depending on your engine choice a .35 engine would require the line sets to be 60' center of your handle to center of plane. If your using a larger engine like a .40-.46, 63' would be a better starting choice. Most importantly, your plane looks terrific. Ken

Re: Question about lines
The Sig lines as you know are on a spool, my question is do I have to unwind them to tie them at 60' ? I,m sorry but lots of info on how to terminate but not much for if you must cut them to length or not.

Re: Question about lines
I've only done one set of sig lines, 52s, and they were dead even in length. I would still unspool them to be sure though, mine may have been the anomaly.

Re: Question about lines
Yes, they need to be unspooled and measured individually. I usually terminate two ends and then jam a metal rod through the eyelets and into the ground. I slip the loop of my 100' tape measure over the rod and run it and the lines all the way out.
After that it's just a matter of terminating the lines at whatever length you require. The line kits are usually not equal length or the right length out of the package.

Edit: Nice Banshee!

Re: Question about lines
Nice looking Banshee, they're a great plane, but in case you forgot don't forget to bob the nose.
Re: Question about lines
Thanks guys I thought that I would still have to measure them.I didn't shorten the nose...but with my Fox it balanced at 1/4 inch ahead of spar.I usually research before I build, but not this time.
