P 39 AIR COBRA
My version of the P 39 AIR COBRA that was flown in the Pacific during WWII with great success. With its 37mm Cannon, two .50 cal. machine guns and four 30 cal.
machine guns it was used for close air support in the Island hoping campaign.

What's it patterned after? If you mentioned it before please forgive me as I must have missed it.
Hey Cribs,
Its patterned after the 2013 version of "Czech Mate". A highly modified Yak-11 with a P&W R-2800 for Reno Racing. It came in Second to Miss Ashley at last years Reno.
Mike
Thanks Mike, great picture and cool plane! I think you captured it nicely.
BTW Cribbs has two "b's"

RK, a greenie for you too! very nice!
I think there's 3-4 planes that are very close and are gonna make the judging very difficult!
Re: Reed Speed qualifying photos... Post em if ya got em. (2014)
Well, a little over an hour to spare and it's as built as I can get it. It will fly like it is. If Jim says I can paint it without drawing a DQ, then I'll spray it. I am out of gas right now.
I like it. It looks like a speed plane... other than the natural finish.
Good night

AWESOME! Now I can paint my plane. I was worried about it landing heavier than it took off. LolJPvelo wrote:I hate to make a man rush a otherwise enjoyable fried chicken break. I want to reiterate that entry has been extended to midnite Tuesday April 2nd so everyone currently working can finish.
I am really pleased with the response to this and the overall quality of the planes. There isn't a dog in the bunch. Thanks guys.

Good thing I'm on the west coast, I have four more hours. I'll be done teaching class in a few minutes. Then back home for landing gear and a push rod.

Well mine is painted. Not even arguably the ugliest paint job ever. No primer, no base, just paint on wood.
It looks like a flying tree.
Too bad, I was really proud of it when I finished building it the other night. It'll still fly fast. I hope the combination of my march 31st unpainted finished plane, plus this paint pic will be enough to get me qualified. I couldn't put the hardware back on it with wet paint, but here it is. I'm at your mercy, Jim.

Ok, here it is NOT in all it's glory. The P-40 racer. This is not the paint job I planned, but I could lay one coat on the other without drying time. And yes I was a Centralia Tiger in High School.

Rusty,
You made it!
I've sent ebeneezer an email to post but he hasn't responded. I've decided to let him fly since he posted a completed model on the other thread. He just won't be able to compete in the beauty contest.

Allright,
We have 16 models posted. If ebeneezer flys that's 17, enough for a real contest!
Remember videos sent pm to me by midnite the 18th. Here's the video instructions if you haven't seen them yet:
https://www.coxengineforum.com/t6567-cef-reed-speed-official-video-entries
If you are having weather issues that prevent you from flying let me know and we will figure something out.
Good luck,
Jim

CEF Speed Contest
Jim,
I was unable to fly & video the P39 Air Cobra this week so I must drop out of the competition. It was a great expierence and building this type of plane was something completely new to me.
I am looking forward to more of this type of event in the near future and many thanks go to to you and everyone who participated !
