Here is my entry!
Laird Super Solution. 1931 Bendix Trophy winner with a 223 mph average speed. Piloted by Jimmy Doolittle.
I chose to deviate from the classic paint/dope scheme and stained it "Early American" I was going for an old wooden toy effect.

Let's hope not. I am sure the field will fill out. It had better, I managed to build this thing in just 9 days while working a 40+ hour week, traveling away from home, fixing my broken fence, plumbing the kitchen sink, cleaning and moving the chicken coop, turning up the garden and helping to take care of 3 kids.

Here’s my entry. September Fury, a modified Hawker Sea Fury racing in the Unlimited Class at Reno. September Fury is the fastest Sea Fury in the world at 468.266 mph.
The Model has a cut down red KB backplate, a TD .049 piston and cylinder, standard Cox high compression glow head, and turning a grey competition Cox 5x4 prop. All up weight is 4.85 ounces:

Re: Reed Speed qualifying photos... Post em if ya got em. (2014)
As is usual in the competition photos posted here - I think selecting a "winner" will be difficult. They are all wonderful builds and each one appears unique.
I can see that there are obvious differences in build quality, final finish, presentation and the overall concept but each one is excellent in its own right.
I can't pick from the three recently displayed so I won't know what to choose when we have the full monty.
This is going to be a more difficult decision than the "Engine of the Month". Especially when I bear in mind the enthusiasm and time that has gone into this exercise. (Even if my planned entry was stopped short by Roddie (I have not forgotten!) just because it would have had two engines.)
I am looking forward to more photos.
Also, it should be compulsory for all speed contest entrants to submit a photo. Even if it only took two minutes to build as opposed to three months!

Ian,
If you can't decide it's probably best to just vote for the white corsair.

Re: Reed Speed qualifying photos... Post em if ya got em. (2014)
Yeah, that flame job is superb. And Ron's plane has real racer looks with that nose high in the air. That landing gear is very nice with those spats. Good job in a record time.

Thanks Jim and everyone. The flames were 2 - 2 1/2 weeks (sometimes sneaking a few minutes on break at work) of working with MS Paint.

Re: Reed Speed qualifying photos... Post em if ya got em. (2014)
I bought decal paper for my Lexmark Bubblejet printer and a brand new color cartridge, but the color won't work. It never has and I blamed the old cartridge but never cared. Now I care, installed the new color cartridge, but it still won't do color. I tried removing and reinstalling the printer and now the whole thing is hosed. It won't respond and the driver doesn't work at all. I killed it.

I have spent a long time looking for a "White Corsair"
For some reason, I can't find one. I did come across a greyish looking one. Can't think why!

I hope don't muddy the water too much but with all the last minute finish scrambling, is the dead line at midnight "My time", or Eastern time or what?
Thanks,
Mike

That looks like a QRC minus the muffler.navion34 wrote:At least my "Polecat" is finished. Now I have to balance it and test it in flight...
Rémy,
I wish I'd gone with a tanked bee. It would simplify things. Nice plane.

Rusty,
Yes this engine is a QRC. But after I built my own engine, QRC tank (because i don't have another actually) metal backplate, killer bee cranck, teflon reed, spi cylinder and milled piston...In a previous life it was a QRC but now, it's another engine.
