Some eBayers are funny
I guess this seller has not figured out yet that almost all the Cox manuals he is offering to sell as copies are available as free downloads from us

Re: Some eBayers are funny
He knows, heck that's probably where he got them!
My guess he is banking on the fact that others don't know.

Some people...
I thought about going through and watermarking every document but that still won't stop them. I noticed a few manuals I had on my site listed on eBay in the past (matched creases and marks) so I pulled most off my site and put them on here where you must join and be logged in to view. Still won't stop them but gives them another hoop to jump through to get them.

Re: Some eBayers are funny
There's a couple I recognize from my site, or I should say I recognize a couple with "water marks" that I have posted on the site that came from other sources.

I don't think it's right to make money off any instruction manual PERIOD... this includes drawings/plans.
edit: this would exclude "one-off" engineering drawings that were designed specifically for a customer.

Well, we also sell a manual:
http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-operating-manual.html
but there is a cost to us to have it reproduced on two-sided ledger-size paper. By the same token it's also available as a free download but still amazing how many we sell as hard-copies every year.

Bernie, being a Cox "dealer".. and offering an original style/size document to a collector... is much different than these bootleggers out there, who's only expense is printer ink.
Re: Some eBayers are funny
I've seen this a lot with other products. Manufacturers offer all their product support manuals free and some jackass burns them all to disc and sells them. I scanned an old parts manual and offered it for free and later saw someone selling it on eBay. (Hmmm, maybe that makes me the jackass.)

When I worked retail (a mere decade ago) I ordered a manual for a discontinued radar unit for a boat. The special order was $100 for what ended up as 50 pages of photocopies, 2 pages per copy, out of the manual at the manufacturer. (nobody was impressed)
I *LOVE* PDF files that are available now.
