I live with the "ice woman"...
I live with the "ice woman"...
I understand... and am reasonably sympathetic to... the fact that woman can and "do"... get hot flashes. Living here in New England... the outside temps have been averaging 19 to 68 degrees F. in the last couple of days... so I'm even more sympathetic. But... a few days ago, my wife... asked me if the central air cond. was still working. "Yes Honey" I replied... (it was one of those hot 65 degree days...) "It's so humid" she stated... "I'm going to turn it on, to see if it helps".... "knock yourself out" I exclaimed...
This morning; I woke up (bedroom window "open"... as usual) and my wife is still sleeping... with no blanket/sheet... or much else covering her. I didn't check... but my glass of water on the night table may have been frozen... I opened the bedroom door and went into the kitchen to check the thermometer. Outside temp 29... inside was 62.
I am now sitting in the basement/workshop with an electric heater running... thawing me out as I write...

Much the same as a Hurricane can be described as an "Atmospheric Disturbance"....roddie wrote:"Scheduled Instability"... fascinating...Kim wrote:Feel for you buddy.

I feel for you Jim. My wife is just coming to the edge of this wonderful time. The other night, temps in the low 20's, she turned the heater off while we were all sleeping. My youngest son woke up to tell everyone how cold he was that night.

My wife (Lynne) is actually a very warm gal... (when she's not "The Ice Woman") This pic of she and I was taken at a band gig 2 weeks ago.

My wife is 34 so I have a couple years to go. Not looking forward to it. Hot flashes I can handle mood swings not so much.

Been there, I could tell just by the tone in her voice when to lay low. A few times I had to parachute into the bathroom.

Been through it. I'm 57 and she's 56. She's a loaded pistol anyway, so the mood swings were hard to specifically spot. It's leveled off now and we sleep directly under a full speed Hunter ceiling fan and the thermostat set to 66 in the Winter and 69 in the Summer. The cat can't stand it. I sleep under the quilt and she throws it on and off throughout the night.

When I get cold at night, I don't have any buds I care to snuggle up to. And I bet none of them radiate the kind of thermal units she does.JPvelo wrote:And this is why they invented camping with your buds.

In our house... during the Winter... the "Ice Woman" keeps the house so cold... the beer doesn't even need to go in the fridge.

Back from the mountain cabin. Was called home to watch the Seahawks squish the Saints (34-7) at a holiday party at the home of some friends. (No snow but rain and the cabin)
