Cox Banana .049?
I believe the Banana .049 is supposed to be rare? has anyone seen this?....

It's on Buy Now for £15, which seems a bargain if you're a collector (and of course if it's real, though it has a box that says it is)

Re: Cox Banana .049?
That looks just like the engine that came in a plastic Cessna Skymaster I bought in the '90s.

Re: Cox Banana .049?
Wilf,
The Tissan Haifa Banana was once distributed by the official Cox reseller in Israel. Because there were not that many made, we have seen them go for stupid $$'s on eBay for the rare occasions that they showed up.
They are same people that make this airplane kit with a newer version of the engine:

We have a stack of the original instruction manuals being sent to us from Tissan Haifa and the owner is trying to get us a new engine from his stash (maybe).
We don't believe the engine performance is any different than a Babe Bee so it's the "collector thing" that would make it appealing. At $20 definitely a steal as the box alone is worth that.

It looks like its not a whole box just the insert.
Boxes are generic and easy to get
Anyone here buy it?

How much do you think its worth?
Re: Cox Banana .049?
No idea. It's always in the eyes of the beholder but it was worth the asking price for me.
NIP engines I have seen sell for $200+

Re: Cox Banana .049?
True and making a box wouldn't be too hard and i am sure you could display it as new if need be.

Well, I'm glad someone here got it, only reason I put it on here was that I had just finished reading what a rare engine it was when I saw it.
No interest to me, I'm not a collector, but I thought someone here should get a chance at it.
