Wanted Cox RR-1 Engine Tank and Backplate

Post  G.O. Stang Tue Oct 29, 2013 4:04 pm

I'm looking for the ever so rare RR-1. Early blue and silver or blue and yellow later models, both are okay. Doesn't have to be super clean. Some scuffs are okay. Just in decent shape. I don't want anything NIB since my collection is all used. I know they're rare but I also know they're out there. And I am aware of the one on eBay right now. I'm watching it to see where the price goes.

So let me know if you've got one and what you'd like to get for it in an inbox message.

Update: I've got my hands on some rr-1 parts and am needing just a tank and backplate now.

Keep your eyes peeled on ebay. Sometimes there are hidden RR-1s listed when the seller has no clue what they are. Or BIN now deals. Took me a while before I got mine at a good price. For a while some NIB ones were posted quite often. Someone must have cleaned out a closet or attic and found a goldmine of NIB RR-1 engines. They all sold for over $500 each.

That's precisely why I don't want NIB. I couldn't justify something that expensive that I'd never use. Hence why I run all the engines in my collection regularly. I like the one on eBay right now because it has it's issues and that should bring the price down. Like the incorrect cylinder and the scuffs and what not. All details that I could live with. And it hasn't quite passed the limit of what I'd pay, but I fear it may since there is 5 days left. And it's been rising each day. But you never know. That's why I'm asking here. To see if anyone else would part with theirs.

I think most here know the value of a RR-1 and probably will not let one go below market value.

If your looking for a deal i'd make sure your esnipe is paid up and look for a off peak eBay auction, one with a crappy photo always helps or a poor description.

Not looking for a deal. Just a lower valued one because of condition. As I said, condition isn't a big issue as long as the engine turns freely.

I'll have to change the cylinder also as it is an unstamped #4. It should have the little fin for the correct glow head right?

Okay. I managed to get ahold of some rr-1 parts. What I'm needing now is a tank and backplate.
