Plank wing ukies
I'm younger than quite a few of you on the forums here. My first experience with Cox was back in the mid-70's. With some extra X-mas gift cash, my brothers and I went and raided the hobby shop. I got myself a great running Golden Bee (which I still have) and a plank-wing ukie. I can't remember what kind it was. I do remember it having an elliptical plan tail plan with a cloth hinge and the bellcrank mounting under the inside wing (oh, it was a profile fuse).
I thought it might have been a baby ringmaster, because that name sounds familiar. But all of the evidence I have seen here indicates that BR's had built-up wings.
Do any of you remember what the popular beginner ukies were from that decade? Not that I'm looking for one, just feeling a little nostalgic.
Thanx.
P.S. - if you know of an archive where I could research myself, let me know.

Re: Plank wing ukies
Look at the drawings for the Free Beginner Ringmaster in the 2nd post of this thread. Is it that one?

That'd be it. Sterling name and all. I wasn't too sure about that, but it also kinda rang true. Thanks Duke.

Glad to help. They are free plan, so print them and build it for that Golden Bee. I also have templates that can be printed off on you house printer somewhere.

Speaking of pictures. Do you start that "CEF Family Picture Album" stinky yet? We should have one. I think this forum is growing and one of the best on the NET.

Nice looking BR, kev. That brings back memories. Of course, as a young kid, my results didn't look anywhere near as good. But I did get it up in the air! I recall it could do loops pretty well.
But those cul-de-sac concrete landings were tough on the little plane. Golden Bee survived, tho.

I'll make a suggestion to Jacob right now and let him set whatever ground rules. I had forgotten about that.duke.johnson wrote:Speaking of pictures. Do you start that "CEF Family Picture Album" stinky yet? We should have one. I think this forum is growing and one of the best on the NET.
EDIT: The suggestion has been officially run up the flag pole.
