Cox Killer Bee backplate
This is my latest corntraption, keeps me out of the bars. It removes the spray bar from the venturi, ready for tests, just need to come up with a way to mount it.

I really like that. Any chance you could do a writeup?
You might have to build a cage to mount that or use long screws and standoffs. Of course there is always the hole in the firewall option. Problem with that is NV adjustment.

I made a similar sample a year or two ago, never attempted to start it though. Yours looks much better.

DUDE!!! I've been thinking about this too!
My idea is to take a sure start snorkle and put the TeeDee NVA on the top of that with the original venturi bored out to the reed seat diameter. I jut don't have parts yet.

How does the venturi attach to the backplate? Andycrankbndr wrote:This is my latest corntraption, keeps me out of the bars. It removes the spray bar from the venturi, ready for tests, just need to come up with a way to mount it.

Phil, that would be 1/4" x 32 tpi, like a standard glow plug.
Weird huh?

That's a really impressive idea. Do you think it would work with one of these carbies?

Re: Cox Killer Bee backplate
Opening up the backplate for the TD parts I used progressively larger drill bits till till it screwed in, I had a backplate that had never been drilled for spraybar, I must have got it from CI.
Finding a way to mount it is difficult because of the problems Ron mentioned, the NV and fuel input are in the way for any bracket to mount to backplate so some kind of standoffs might work.

Thats pretty cool, you must not have a way to mount or you would have run it. Maybe we can hold them in our hand. Just kidding, don't try that at home.microflitedude wrote:I made a similar sample a year or two ago, never attempted to start it though. Yours looks much better.

Re: Cox Killer Bee backplate
This idea was a failure, the venturi could not hold the needle valve body tight so when running the needle valve moved a lot.
When I held the NV in place for a steady run it turned 19.5K (25%N and 5/3 prop) but I can get that on a regular Killer Bee plate.
Back to the boneyard.
