This thing is Awesome!!
Well, I had to replace the low beam bulb in my wife's car, so I decided to clean up the headlight enclosure at the same time. I got a 3M headlight restoration kit (http://www.3m.com/product/information/Headlight-Lens-Repair.html) at the local auto store. Man! It was fantastic! Other than a few rock pits, the lenses look better than new. The following pics don't do it justice. They're pretty much crystal clear. I used the Meguire's system three or four years ago, but the 3M system beats it all over. I'll never use anything else. And to do both headlights, I only wore out one of the coarse and one of the fine sanding discs. I should be able to do at least three more pair of headlights. I think I paid about $15 for the kit.
I should have taken before pictures of the wife's headlights. This is my mother's car. At the start, my wife's headlights looked about like the top half of this headlight:
And afterwards:
Next weekend I'll figure out how to pull my mom's headlight assemblies out and restore her headlights.

That's great. I've gotten lax on the waxing of my 2002 Mazda P5. I used to always wax the polycarbonate headlight covers and they stayed clear. But over the last couple of years they've gotten a little frosted, not much, but enough to bother me. I'll definitely be getting some of this stuff. I doubt if I'll need anything but the fine pad.

yep, about anything with a mild abrasive will work, i like to use a scratch remover/polish and damp terry cloth at least once a year and more importantly park at work facing north, keeping direct sunlight off of the plastic.
I've restored my kids car with wet sanding (1000) and then using a scratch remover/polish.

The lenses look great. I used to do lens restoration when I worked on cars and the only down fall to restoring them is you have to keep up with cleanings as the cloudiness will come back after a while.

Well, I finally got around to doing my mother's headlights. It's best to take the assemblies out to do them, but on her Mazda 3 you have to pull the bumper to get the assemblies out. So, I just taped everything up good. This 3M Headlight Restoration Kit is now officially on my "List of Things Guys Need To Have". Somewhere above an auto-centerpunch and uni-bit drill, but below a stockman's pocketknife and a .22 rifle.
Here's before:
Driver's side after:
Passenger side. You can see I'm just starting to wet sand with 1500 grit on the front, but the side is still frosty from the 800 grit:
Unfortunately, it got dark before I finished the passenger's side, so the camera didn't take too great a pic of the finished passenger side:

Wow, nice. My MP5 headlights are probably identical to those and never pitted at all over the time I was waxing them with Turtle paste wax. So if you wax them from now on, they'll probably stay clear. The polycarbonate won't ever yellow like the old early covered lamp assemblies.
Here's my hot little grocery getter:
