Cox Engine of The Month
I was warned......
I was warned......
I believe it was Rusty who mentioned getting caught up in his stoogle line and I assumed it would never happen to me as I have been using a stooge for a good long while now.
I had just finished using the last of my SIG fuel and it there was zero wind and all I had left was my Fox fuel, it's all castor so I knew it wouldn't hurt so I filled the tank up with that. All I got was a crap run and during the crap run my foot got caught in the stooge line and I started to get wound up. So here I am fighting to keep the plane in the air while trying to untangle my feet without taking my eye off the plane.
I decided my best bet would be to catch the prop in the grass and kill the engine. I brought it in real low and snagged the prop all right and the gear with it! The plane cartwheeled and the prop blade broke off and wizzed past my ear.
The bummer part is it was a vintage prop that was 5.5x2.5 and it flew real well on the Sig fuel. Much tamer.

Sorry.
Maybe next time try flying backwards. When it happened to me, I probably didn't know how to fly backwards. My wife had to come untie me.

I was so wrapped it wouldn't have mattered.
I usually toss the line far from me, guess I didn't this time.

If you use a thick white cord for your stooge line, it's a little easier see and stay clear of tangles, and also helps mark where the invisible Spiderwire is laying in the grass.

I have a chalk line reel respooled with hot pink mason line. I haven't used it yet, but I rather hope I don't trip on it because I couldn't see it.

You need to try the high vis yellow. I can easily see it in the grass.

Yeah...got a bunch of the yellow...just too lazy to swap it out on all the handles I've made up. Gonna cut out some new handles from ply, and they'll all be decked out in Hi-Viz !!

Phil,
I do need to change out the line. I am using kite string at the moment. It was easy to see initially when it was new and bright white.
Now it is castor stained, dirty and starting to fray. I have it wrapped around a big 1/2" bolt which I usually toss away from me upon release. I guess I didn't do that this time. Since I have installed the TD on the Bean it jumps off the ground so I have to act quick. I used to have a moment to toss the bolt when it was BW powered. Now not so much......

It would have been funny Dave. Hopping on one foot while flying.
