Thanks VERY much guys. I've heard about the "rib-ripper" problem. Maybe this is a stupid question.. but Ken; you mentioned the "center spar" not being needed.. so could I simply cut through it with a razor saw on either side of the ribs that have the center-sheeting? Wouldn't doing this concentrate damage more to the wing's center-joint(s) rather than continuing to spread span-wise?

The Sterling wood is pretty hard as hard balsa die cuts better. It can take quite some abuse. I would leave it as built and go fly with the indicated epoxy-glass reinforcements.

Sawing out the spar is an option. Saw on both sides of every rib and remove as much as practical outside the sheeted area.

My concern is on this size of wing the wing may become too limp. If you feel it is too limp consult the Flite Streak pans and install top and bottom spars in a similar manner at the thickest part of the wing.

The LE is pretty massive so there may be plenty of stiffness.

All my Ringmasters have the rib ripper in place, but they are all from, and built, when Sterling was in business. It takes a pretty good crash to blow the wing out, and the Ringmaster does a much more spectacular job of it than wings built like the Flite Streak.

To keep this thread focused on the Enya .19... I'll start a build thread when I get into building the Ring later this Winter.

In the meantime I saw a control line kit today on ebay that looks about right for the Enya. It's a Top Flite Jr. Nobler.

Roddie, the Enya .19 would be a very poor choice for the JR Nobler. The JR Nobler was designed for your steelfin Fox's. You would need a ton of tail weight. Even a modern .15 would be requiring tail weight. I've seen very good examples with the OS MAX-S .10 and also the Fox .15X. The full size Nobler is a far superior flying plane than the JR. When things get scaled down, they never seem to work as well as the larger. Ken

Thanks for that info Ken. I have the full-size Nobler kit complete in the box and unbuilt. I'll save that one for when I have more experience.

Brodak has a classic legal Jr Nobler.  Should be effectively the same plane as that old kit, possibly better wood.

Putting the Enya onto a Clown or Super Clown might be better.

My Enya needs an airplane. I have 2 other airplanes that have possibilities.. and both just need covering basically. They are the Veco "Warrior" and the Falcon/"Topper" that my Uncle built from plans. I'll weigh both models in their current framed-up state and the lighter one will get the Enya. The other will get my Fox .29 Stunt.. and my Fox .35 is planned for the VooDoo. It looks like my S1 will get either the OS Max III .29 or the McCoy .35 because of the beam-spacing.

If I could get motivated enough.. I'd start building sacrificial constant-chord wings for a proven .35 size profile stunt design.. using the RCM wing-jig that I made. Why build a wing-jig.. and not build some wings? It would be a quick and easy way to build 3 identical training airplanes that wouldn't have any sentimental value. I have a hang-up with that I think.. Shocked It's hard when you don't have anyone locally to collaborate with.

Roddie , I know about the collaborating part that is one good reason I am here you have all the back up you need , but no hands on from these guys and sometimes you have to ask twice because we are old and cant hear well from all that prop blasting lol!
