That is Travis's Olympic.....
The only 15 head that I know is different is the TD MkII head. All the other heads look to have the same shape inside any way.

Yep, Travis's engine!
I'm with Jason, I don't believe there is a difference in a Olympic head and a TD .15 head.
I wouldn't let a easily replaceable part like a glow head stop me from buying a engine. Its a part that has the shortest life and is made to be replaced so it makes sense that there could be something different. It is nice to have a period authentic head when displaying though.

What is a Travis Engine? I look at some Tee Dee Heads and some of them look different with a broder head, like the one in the picture. I have a .15 olympic engine and the head does indeed look different then the supplied picture of the .15 Olympic from E-Bay posted above. Is it my eyes, the picture angle, or does the Travis Engine mentioned above have something to do with the look of the head? Maybe my statements are unjustified and I will put on my flame suit ??

Something to keep in mind, before these engines were collector items they were used and used hard. People swapped parts, tried different things and modified stuff in the pursuit of performance.
You will find all types of anomalies in the pursuit of collecting.

When I look at the head on the .15 Tee Dee..It looks different then my Olympic..Maybe it is just me or the camera Angle. But I had no clue that the Olympic and Tee Dee shared the same head, I even have my Olympic next to me as I look at the pictur..No Offense meant Travis..Sorry!

When I was looking for a head for my Sportsman, I found the 15s all had the same part number. I didn't note whether that included the Mark II.

Lew,
If you have the time, head on over to the .049 collectors group and take a look around. Lots of good info on head variations, cylinder variations etc.

That pic is of this engine here. (click on pictures to see them larger)
LOL, Doesn't look like the same engine anymore! The driveplate has been replaced with a Medallion .15 driveplate that Bernie had anodized gold. Thanks to Jason for repairing the crack in the carb body by fitting an aluminum collar.
Like Ron suggested, take a look at the pictures that Mark has on his site, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/049Collectors/

The Travis engines are far superior, you should buy them all while they're available.

Don't feel dumb, you're among friends. Just expect a little jesting here and there.

MKII and TD took a #1802 glow head, which looks the same except for the knurling on top.

Maybe Bernie can make a Travis engine!
