Interesting to read the card in the background..
RC05 is a .051 with a carb and muffler, nothing really fancy...

Correct...but my .05 has a throttle needle and a silver anodized drive plate. I am assuming this is a .051 with a .05 carb minus the needle...This is NOT an NIB, unopened, never run Cox .05 TD RC. I sent the owner a message. More and More of these mis-representations are popping up on e-bay...Sad!!

It's understandable though... not everyone knows as much about Cox engines as we do.

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
Thing is people are bidding on it and the bid is up to $102.00 . I would not pay $102 USD for that engine as it sits!! Like I said, I contacted the seller and we will see what he does.

Us Candiens are a little weird Eh!! I like throttle needle not needle valve. Thanx for adding that to the thread John.

...could it be that someone took the needle off and thats its still new, never run engine?
Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
All the TD RC 050's that I have seen had the silver drive-plate.

It may just be my eyes but, the rearward mounting hole looks elongated. Also the cylinder may have had a wrench on it.
Ebayers are getting wise to these things my bet is it doesn't pull top dollar.

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
This TD 05 RC is surely used one. Drive plate also changed to gold anodized one.
I bought TD 05 RC used with $50, which has really ugly plier mark. I tried to look for original drive plate but end up changing with readily available TD 0.049 drive plate which is gold anodize.
So this is used & changed parts engine.

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
My guess: It is a TD .051 with a .05 carb mod on it!! It is NOT an TD.05 RC, that's for sure!!...The only thing that baffles me is the box!! The box is the only legitimate representation of anything related to originality of the TD.05 RC!! The Box is Real!!aungmyatoo wrote:This TD 05 RC is surely used one. Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
We need to look at the red carb body, TD 05 RC body has rib that goes into the groove in the muffler base. If no rib, this is TD 051 with muffler and RC carb insert (can be bought from Bernie with $35). Though muffler is hard to find.
I agree, the box is real. I won't buy when you know the box is real but the engine is not!

You know..Your right, there is a rib Ron!!....It's an old style carb aswell...So we could have a TD RC.05 with a .051 drive plate and missing needle. Or we have a Tee Dee .051 with a TD RC .05 Carb Body a TD RC .05 Carburetor and missing needle. It's elementary my dear Watson!!!

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
I think this one is real TD RC 05.
It is used, and damage parts were replaced (drivr plate & glow head), and put on ebay as NIB.
Glow head should be high compression one but it is not in picture.

Ron...Does the .051 have a Rib in the plastic carb body ? I thought it did'nt!!?? Take a look at this .051..There is a rib in the carb body as far as I can see.. I must be losing it!! Im positive the .051 Tee Dee did not have that rib..

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
Funny you should ask that.
I received a near NIB TD .051 from Kim after the TD tach race. It had a tab on the carb body and a #4 cylinder with no SPI. It came that way from the factory as Kim bought it brand new.

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
I would bet that the rib started to show up by a certain date. Did it also show up on the 049s?

So to assume this is a Cox TD RC.05 with a gold anodized drive plate could be the wrong assumption...it very well could be a Tee Dee .051 with an RC .05 Carb on it?? I have seen TD.051 with no rib aswell!! I guess what is messing me up is Cox just seems to be using what parts were available on there engines. So the .051 had ribbed and non-ribbed carb bodies assembled on them??

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
I was thinking the same thing... Could it be a RC05 with a gold drive plate, because they were out of silver drive plates?
I have a really good looking dragonfly but it has a black case. It looks to be original, could it have come from COX that way?

Re: Another E-Bay Misrepresentation
Yep, near the end they used whatever. I'll take a pic of the .051 tonight.
