Cox Engine of The Month
Well, its almost over.
Well, its almost over.
Tomorrow is December 21, 2012, the end of time according to the Mayan calender. I understand that it is already the 21st in Europe and so far nothing has happened. These end of the world dates have been coming and going for years and nothing ever happens.
Re: Well, its almost over.
I guess we should all start flying those cox engines on straight nitro. They will be no good to anyone after Friday.

Perhaps it does not signify the end of the world but the end of the Mayans...or perhaps they just didn't care to look any further ahead. :-)

Sorry you Aussies.
But on your flip side I guess you're quite warm at the moment
And not even thinking about Winter...

I guess we made it, unless I'm the only one left. Maybe it's not a 'Good Day To Die', but it's a good day to FLY! Fire them up Boys!

Re: Well, it's almost over !
My theory about the Mayan Calendar predicting the end of the world is as follows:
About 1,500 years ago, the Mayan King promoted his best hunter, Quetzl, from killing Howler Monkeys and Jaguars with a blow gun and bows and arrows to working on the calendar stone. After about 200 Full Moons, Quetzl, goes to the King and tells him he's tired of chipping on that big ass rock and that he wants to retire on one of those cool condos near the top of the pyramid. After all, Mayan Land has a dead of the winter temp of about +94F, and he has gotten as far as Dec 21, 2012 on the calendar and he really doesn't even know what that means ! Besides the condo is near where they keep the virgins and those green leaves you chew to make you numb, and they also have that stuff called chockolate from those goofy tree pods!!
Fast forward about 1,500 years and some discouraged archeologist type who is broke and unpublished, and totally ticked since his classmates all grabbed on the Global Warming deal and got rich from gov't grants, finds Quetzl's calendar. The next thing he knows he's got a big time book deal and has hit all the talk shows including Oprah !
All this Dec 21, 2012 stuff is because honest old Quetzl said to heck with it !!!
That's my theory and I'm sticking with it !!! Steve

Yup -- sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me.
Re: Well it's almost over
Now that the Mayan Calendar Hysteria is over, don't think that a race of people like the Mayans, and, for that matter the Incas, who have been extinct for 10 centuries are finally out of your life !!
Did you know that a self proclaimed Mayan decendant was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Art and Culture in 2011? His name is Leonardo di Venezuela and he was nominated for his significant paintings. It's reported that he once painted life size murals and caricatures on 14 Norfolk & Southern boxcars with only one $3.98 can of Wal-Mart spray paint !!
He didn't win the Nobel Prize but the New York Times presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award !!!
So the next time you are stopped at a railroad crossing by a 400 car freight train, don't let your mind wonder, look for Leonardo's famous work !!!!! Feel free to use these "facts" at your next Holiday party but don't be surprised that the uninformed of the World think that you are off your medications !!
Seriously, I hope my "observations" maybe have brought a little levity and maybe even a smile to make your Christmas Season a little happier !!!!!!
Merry Christmas , Steve....
