Sheared crank
Clipped the ground with the Satan today and sheared the crank at the driveplate, engine continued to run. Those little suckers scream without a load!

Bummer, yeah they do scream. Wait till one slings a prop then rips off the mount! Makes for an interesting couple seconds.
Sorry to hear about your crank though.

Re: Sheared crank
Wow, I'm surprised it kept running. I hope the front bearing in the crankcase is okay. That was the Tee Dee .049, wasn't it?

Re: Sheared crank
I read this and just cracked up. I've done it and it sounds horrifying when it's happening. It just goes into a lot of rpm's. I've done it with big block combat engines and formula .40 racing engines. One thing I learned, was to jam the nose into the ground to kill the engine. I saved a few doing this. This was on both asphalt and grass. Either way, pointing the nose straight down is going to keep fuel from your pickup killing the engine. Sorry to hear that but hopefully the engine is still good. Ouch man. I hope the rest of the engine survived
I had a prop come loose on me last week while warming up a bee. They do get pretty wild and loud!

I actually picked it up and stared in amazement for about five seconds before I pit my finger over the intake. Everything internal looks ok.Ken Cook wrote: I read this and just cracked up.
