Change of opinion
I may just have a good one, but the Medallion .049 I received from Happydad that I mounted to my Baby Clown is a stout runner. I had always been under the impression that the medallion was a lesser engine due to it's poor man's TD reputation. I can now say after having owned and exercised one that it is actually a good engine. Does it have TD power? No, but for what it does it does well. 2 flip starts and no hiccups in flight plus it pulls the clown effortlessly.
Just felt like sharing my findings.

Re: Change of opinion
I agree. My Medallion is very cooperative, easy to crank and runs great. I had to put a new SPI set on it because the original #2 set was rusted, so I've never used one in its original form. That's what was powering the Bean when it finally self destructed.

I should mention I do have a #4 cylinder set on it however, I doubt it has any effect on starting and reliability. The head is Cox standard low compression.
I wouldn't turn down another one if it came my way that's for sure.

Re: Change of opinion
I have a well used Medallion .09 with the exhaust throttle. It's extremely easy to start, the throttle transitions are butter smooth and it has no problems revving up an APC 7x4.
