Yeah...that seemed to be a popular term in model mags back in the 60's. As a kid, I didn't know for sure what the heck one was...though it SOUNDS like it might be a type of parasite !

We just use the term "Newbie" nowadays.
I think I like Neophyte better. It sounds less demeaning.
Another good one Kim!

The plans for the plane Kim posted are available in PDF here:
http://www.thunderbirds.org.au/12a_plans.html
It's the same article, but when blown up, the dimensions may be a bit more readable. I've built and flown a couple of these planes into oblivion and have started cutting parts for another.

Newbie, Newbie, New...sounds like a Frank Sinatra song.
Notice on that plan how many engines are shown...Spacebug (or other with radial tank mount), Holland Hornet (picture), OK Cub, and mention of Thermal Hopper. I believe the thinking of the day was that you were more likely to build it if you had the engine shown, so they included multiple installations.
Remember multiple installations shown on the old Scientific Hollow Logs?
Nice plane. I copied the plans. Faster than locating the old magazine.

Cool looking 1/2 Aries, Cobra, etc. I found this artical years ago and copied it thinking it would be cool to build (also thinking as a profile) someday...
