How much room do I need for CL?

How much room do I need for CL?
My new home has an open area in the backyard that is roughly 150' x 200'
Is this enough room? It's has a few trees on the outskirts. I suppose line length would be the big factor. That and if I come off center too far.....

Re: How much room do I need for CL?
I fly my 1/2As on 35' lines. That's all I have room for(I don't know my field's dimensions). I tried 40' and clipped some overhanging oak foliage.
So you need 70' plus a safe extra 30' for when you're back peddling to get the lines tight. I'd say you can squeeze that into 150x200 nicely. Start with 35' and go up to 40 or 45' if you think you can.

I quite like what the speed bods on utube do Ron.
They have a pole sunk into the ground and hang onto it.
I think this would stop you wandering and keep you to a fixed point.
However feel free to ignore this as bear in mind my lack of
c/l experince since 1975.......

Re: How much room do I need for CL?
If clearances are tight when flying CL I place an old "hula loop" in the center of the circle that I intend to fly. When flying I don't step out of the circular hula hoop.
Got the "hula hoop" at a Goodwill store for fifty cents.
An advantage of the hula hoop is that it is portable rather than in a fixed position.

Re: How much room do I need for CL?
My front yard is a bit narrow, but I CAN get away with a safe margin flying on 30 ft lines if I stay in the center. I determined the best spot using a stake and some cord, then sunk a small concrete landscaping slab flush with the ground. As long as I stand with at least one foot on the slab, I know that I'm safe from striking anything.

Thanks guys,
I will trim away some of the outer limbs of the trees and set up a center point. Not a bad idea on the Hula hoop Dave.
I wonder what my new neighbors will think!

Ron:
If you also twirl several "hula hoops" around your waist as you fly, your neighbors will think you are light-hearted and, dare I say, "gay"? (as in happy and childlike)
I can hear it now: "Mommy, look a the man playing with his toy airplanes! I want one too!!"

Your all probably right. I just hope the noise won't be too offensive!
It's going to be nice to fly in my own backyard.

My favorite center marker is a white rag. I move around a lot when I fly CL and it's easy to see out of my peripheral vision so I can get back to it easily.

Yeah, I may go that route as it's more readily available and my kids won't want to play with it. Unless......I show them the flying shop rag vid

Re: How much room do I need for CL?
you should be fine with about anything .40 and smaller. Should be fun to build a circle, you might want to consider a crushed limestone center, that way like a warning track in baseball, you can feel when you step out of it.

Another good suggestion! I wonder what a potential buyer might think when I eventually sell?
