Skinks Amoung Us !
And so, the shop acquires another critter !
In keeping with the Skunk Works policy of welcoming anything that eats bugs but doesn't cause direct, physical harm to the owner, this Blue-Tailed Skink is hereby granted amnesty.
As such, his risk is limited to being squished by any of the assorted castor-wheel-mounted equipment that often traverses the shop floor.
Live Well and Prosper, El Skinko....

Awesome kim, I just hope he doesn't get too close to any of your engines, but then most creatures shy away from engines noises.Kim wrote:And so, the shop acquires another critter !

Probably so, but I will not be held responsible for the carnage resulting from him taking up residence inside the bandsaw !

Well, I would not do it on purpose...but he's on his own as far as identifying dangerous situations !

Ah Ha!!! The dreaded blue tailed lizard --- commonly held in redneck folklore to be POISONOUS. Many have met their demise at the end of BB guns, pointed sticks, rocks and any other object that could be used at a safe distance.

We had a barn cat that took up residence in the fan shroud of the farm truck. All nine lives were used up pretty quickly there when we started the truck one morning.

Yeah, my poor mom was terrified of lizards and snakes, so of course, fate decreed that I would become a fan of same !

When I was 11 I had a cat die on my lap just 1/2 am hour before she was due to be put down.

Yeah...a few months ago, my best pal in the world Gizrod died as I readied the van to take him for our last ride.

Huge fan myself, I have had a kingsnake living with me since 1998.
I like to garden so the more Anoles and Gecko's and toads the merrier. I even leave the porch lights on for the night gecko's and toads. Reptiles work for us. Wish others would see the light....

P.E.T.A. = People Eating Tasty Animals
Nitro,
The barn cat met it's demise that morning when we started the truck. We didn't know it happened until we got back home in the yard and saw the dead cat where the truck was parked.

OMG! one of my spring time garage tody frogs just ate one of my garage hunter spiders right in front of my eyes. I like my free range hunter spiders, they eat bugs. Shot one off the wall with an airsoft pistol the other nite! Been feeling bad about it ever since. Now I am down two...... Tody frogs gonna hafta take up the slack.... Gonna polish this crankcase now.

Yeah,
Cat's love warm engine blocks.
I kinda look at it this way, if an animal has a purpose I will do all in my power to respect their territory. If an animal is a nuisance and it's purpose is to damage or kill well...... let's just leave it at that.

Yep...if you look closely at the last two photos, you can detect the bulge of a baby Purple Martin, being converted to snake vitamins !
I hauled him out to the conservation area near my house and sent him on his way.

Apparently, you didn't intend for him to get out during the trip. I don't think Ahhhhrnold could have escaped that on his best day.

Yeah Andrew! This stems from a previous "relocation" where my passenger decided he didn't like the snap-top terrarium I was using to transport him.
As the "Snake Guys" here know, these constrictors are mostly muscle, and are experts at using it! He popped the top off his cell while I was taking him to the conservation area and worked his behind the van's cargo box.
It's hard to believe a five-foot long Kingsnake could effectively hide in an open cargo van, but it took me ten minutes to find and get him back into his box!
So...I go Maximum Security when I'm hauling these guys!

Re: Skinks Amoung Us !
Kim, I think that's a Black Rat Snake and not an Eastern King Snake. The king snake has more defined bands.
