I didn't know that...
Jerry Reed Hubbard (March 20, 1937 – September 1, 2008)

Yep, Jerry Reed passed away a few years ago. I know he had a drug problem in the past, I don't remember if that is the reason he died or not.
You can catch ”Smokey and the Bandit II” at 12:20-2:10 PM CST on the Movieplex channel (not sure if it is special to comcast or not)

My dad had the Pontiac Trans Am Smokey and the Bandit edition. He bought it in high school, but had to sell it for college.
Re: Smokey and the Bandit is on...
A friend had bought a brand new "Bandit" Pontiac T/A right of the showroom floor, with the gold fire chicken on the hood and all emblems and decals.
He polished the heck out of that gloss black paint, kept it spot clean all the time and tuned up for another "beer money" run.
May 18, 1980. Mt ST Helens blows it's top. he had waxed it up slick the previous day with the T-tops off. he woke up to a thick layer of very grey, very abrasive layer of volcanic ash, inside outside, all over it. The fresh wax was caranuba, and he didnt get it all off in places, so the ash stuck hard there. You can guess what it looked like once he got it clean again.
