It's only a TD .010. You can always buy other one.

No he isn't, I know he knows what he is doing.Ivanhoe wrote:The man is an IDIOT!
I have done it in the past and if an aero engine cannot taking landing on grass not too heavily then it ain't a very good engine.
That being said I wouldn't do it with one of my Valentines!
Re: Caution ! May be Traumatic for Cox Engine Collectors !!!!
Long ago, in a ballfield far, far away, I attempted an ill-advised loop with my then-new Cox QZ PT-19 Trainer. I only came up short by about a foot, but it was close enough. I was standing in grass, next to a rain soaked, muddy infield. The PT struck the infield mud and STOPPED !!! It's engine didn't.
With plenty of fuel left in it's integral tank, the Babe Bee, it's mount, and landing gear spun vertically into the Wild Blue, as we stood and watched. Luckily, it decided to stay over the ballfield until it's fuel ran out, and arrived with a smack back into the mud.
The shop towel at least slowed the Tee Dee's descent a bit !

Was it Bernie when he was a kid that let a babe bee go pointed at the sky with no rag or anything and lost it ?Kim wrote:Long ago, in a ballfield far, far away, I attempted an ill-advised loop with my then-new Cox QZ PT-19 Trainer. If you consider doing that with a TD .010 to be OK, then you may be right, if he was using a Babe Bee I wouldn't consider it quite so idiotic

Could be. I remember watching and starting to worry if I was gonna get mine back, and it was dragging an engine mount and it's landing gear along with it.

That's pretty funny. The only time I've ever jettisoned an engine in mid flight, the repaired noise on the Jumpin Bean broke and the engine swung over and chopped the lead edge spar in half.

That guy designs model heli systems and sells his ideas to Japanese companies, or maybe just one company.

I once saw a combat model in a midair collision lose it's engine, with fuel tank attached, you have never seen people move as fast as they did with a miss-guided missile of a screaming 2,5cc diesel hurtling round the sky!

Those suckers are scary. I guess the engine is still on the lines, but a Cyclon at 30000 RPM could scatter a crowd in a hurry. They're supposed to have a fuel shutoff these days I think.

I doubt it stayed on the lines!
I hope the engine wasn't an Olly.

Unfortunately it was, and it finally impacted on a concrete runway!
