Compression and prop size?

Compression and prop size?
I'm new to high compression on Bees. Do any of you folks adjust compression when you change props? I'll be using different sized props on the Li'l Satan/Black Widow. I'm running pretty high compression right now and did all the test runs with a 5x3 prop. But when I feel like doing some aerobatics without such a white knuckle factor, I use a 6x3. I wondered if more or less compression might be better with that much difference in size. Any rule of thumb like you use for nitro content?

That's probably more true for a standard head then a hicomp head, I'd think it might be hard to needle a 1702 on 20% with two gaskets, usally a larger prop you'd want less compression.

Yeah, that much I know, with regular heads.microflitedude wrote:One shim for every 10% percent of nitro. 24% = 2 shims.
Thanks Mark, I'll keep that in mind when I try out my setup this Weekend.Mark Boesen wrote:...usally a larger prop you'd want less compression.

Lower compression for larger props, a shim or two is all it takes, unless you go into texaco mode.
