WTB Horseshoe backplates with wire reed retainer (not plastic cage)

Hi guys,

I'm trying to source a few older backplates complete with needles. This is so I can build a couple of planes with external tanks.

I know I can order complete ones with plastic reed cages from Matt and Bernie, but I have zero experience with those backplates. Their cost is almost low enough to suggest I should just order a few and try them.

I plan on stripping a couple of Babe Bees of their tanks for conversion.

Keep in mind I'm cheap....so before I pay $15 each (or more) for used, I'll just try the newer style. Along with being cheap, I recognize value and experience. If you have used the newer style, feel free to tell me I have no reason to ignore new, economically priced and readily available ones.

But if you have several collecting dust with no real purpose, I may be your favorite scavenger. PM or post here...I'm flexible.

Fellow backplate enthusiasts,

Three things happened today.

One gentleman/friend of the forum reached out with a complete engine. I have responded to him. He also indicated the later style backplate works (phew...good to hear).

A second gentleman/friend of the forum offered up a couple of stripped red backplates. I'm typing an email in response.

The third was I just got back in from the hobby closet after two hours of picking through many small boxes. I discovered three key pieces of information. First, I have more Medallions than I thought. Second, I have fewer reedie engine cases than I thought. Third, I actually do have enough backplates to ensure I can build a twin, and have a couple of spares.

So with all that in mind, I'm good for now. For the two friends of the forum, thanks so much for reaching out to me. I appreciate how the members here all help each other.

In conclusion, my search is over. Thanks guys!
